H Sony αποκάλυψε την νέα σειρά καρτών μνήμης XQD, σειρά S.  Η νέα σειρά φτάνει ταχύτητες ανώτερες από τις υπάρχουσες Compact Flash.  Οι μέχρι τώρα κάρτες μνήμης XQD που μπορούσαν να αγοράσουν οι κάτοχοι της Nikon D4 έφταναν σε ταχύτητα τα 125MB/s, ενώ η σειρά S υπόσχεται ταχύτητα 168MB/s!!
Η επίσημη ανακοίνωση:

“Offering sustained read/write transfer speeds of 168MB/s (actual speed), XQD™ S Series outpaces the maximum interface speed limit of Compact Flash cards (167 MB/s).

Η νέα XQD S Series 64GB θα είναι διαθέσιμη μέσα στο καλοκαίρι ενώ η έκδοση των 32GB τον Οκτώβριο.  Επίσης αναμένεται από την Sony νέος αναγνώστης XQD με θύρα Thunderbolt.
