Photolucida has announced the 50 photographers advancing to the final selection of Critical Mass 2026, highlighting a broad range of contemporary photographic approaches.

The announcement was published on October 5 and follows the earlier Top 200 selection. Critical Mass portfolios are reviewed by professionals from the international photography community, with the program designed to create visibility, professional opportunities and connections between photographers, curators, publishers and other industry figures.

The 2026 Top 50 will be presented in a group exhibition at the Los Angeles Center of Photography from June 3 to July 17, 2027. For the first time, each Top 50 finalist will also receive a 30-minute online portfolio review with one of the Critical Mass 2026 jurors.

The wider Critical Mass program also includes exhibition, publishing and professional opportunities for finalists, with additional selections and awards drawn from the Top 200.
