Mandatory electronic invoicing expands to the remaining Greek businesses on 1 October 2026, and information gathered by PTTL from photographers, videographers and other creators shows some professionals moving away from commercial invoicing solutions towards AADE’s free timologio service.
The main reason cited is additional cost. Beyond the invoicing software subscription itself, some packages add a separate certified-provider charge, while professionals in the sector have also reported to PTTL one-off fees of around €50–€60 to activate or configure the new service.
The distinction is important: AADE does not require businesses to sign a contract with a private provider. Mandatory electronic invoicing can be handled either through a certified electronic-invoicing provider or through AADE’s free timologio and myDATAapp services. For a professional issuing only a small number of B2B documents, the free route can remove a new fixed operating cost.
What changes on 1 October
Mandatory electronic invoicing has applied since 2 March 2026 to businesses with gross revenue above €1 million, based on tax year 2023. From 1 October the second phase covers the remaining businesses, according to AADE’s official FAQ.
On its dedicated mandatory e-invoicing page, AADE lists the available routes as modern invoicing software with a certified provider, or the free timologio and myDATAapp applications. Selecting timologio as the transmission channel also covers the use of myDATAapp.
The real cost is not always just the base subscription
The picture reaching PTTL from photography and video professionals is that moving to a certified-provider setup can increase the total cost beyond what they previously paid for a simple invoicing application. In some cases, professionals report separate monthly provider charges and one-off fees of about €50–€60 for initial activation or configuration.
Public pricing also confirms that these additional charges exist in the market. Atlas Global Solutions lists installation and configuration at €50 plus VAT, while Timologic shows a small-business plan at €5.99 per month with an additional €4.99 per month for the provider, before VAT.
This does not mean that every commercial service follows the same pricing model or that added services have no value. But for a professional issuing only a few documents each month, the combined cost of software, provider access, support or initial setup may be disproportionate to the actual workflow.
Photographers and videographers are moving to timologio
According to information gathered by PTTL from the photography, video and creative-production sectors, a number of freelancers who had been using commercial invoicing programs are now choosing timologio specifically to avoid the higher total cost of adapting to the new framework.
There is currently no official public statistic showing how many users have left specific commercial services for timologio. PTTL’s information reflects actual reports and choices from professionals in the sector, not a formal market census.
What AADE’s free timologio provides
timologio is provided free of charge by AADE for digital document issuance and simultaneous transmission to myDATA. It supports business profiles, customer lists, goods and services and the issuance of the required documents without purchasing a subscription invoicing package.
AADE itself says the application is intended for businesses that either do not have a computerised invoicing system or whose existing system no longer covers their daily needs. myDATAapp is also available for mobile use.
When a commercial solution still makes sense
Private platforms remain useful when a business needs deeper automation, multiple users, ERP integration, inventory, POS or e-commerce connections, broader commercial management or structured technical support. In those cases, the subscription may pay for functions that timologio does not provide.
For a photographer, videographer, filmmaker or other freelancer issuing a limited number of service invoices, the calculation is different. If the main need is compliant issuance and transmission to myDATA, AADE’s free service can remove both the recurring subscription and possible provider or activation charges.

The mandatory transition should not by itself create the impression that every small professional needs a new paid package. Businesses that need the extra features of a commercial service have a reason to pay for them. Those whose main requirement is to issue a small number of compliant documents have a strong reason to examine the official free route first.
