Microsoft has introduced the next generation of Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, powered by the new Snapdragon X2 processors and focused on performance, battery life and artificial intelligence capabilities.

The new models target professionals, content creators, developers, students and users looking for high-performance Windows laptops.

The announcement is part of Microsoft’s strategy to expand the Surface lineup across all user categories, from entry-level devices to high-performance solutions capable of leveraging both local and cloud-based AI workloads.

New 13-inch Surface Pro

The new 13-inch Surface Pro combines the portability of a tablet with the capabilities of a full Windows PC.

It is available in Platinum, Black and Dune, with an optional OLED display offering higher contrast, deeper blacks and improved color accuracy.

According to Microsoft, the new version delivers up to 53% faster graphics performance than the previous generation, while battery life reaches up to 15.5 hours of video playback. It also features a 1440p Quad HD camera with an ultrawide field of view for improved video conferencing.

The new Surface Pro starts at $1,499 and can be paired with the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard, now also available in Dune.

Surface Laptop 13.8-inch and 15-inch

Microsoft has also refreshed the Surface Laptop, available in 13.8-inch and 15-inch versions.

The new models provide up to 58% better graphics performance compared to the previous generation, while battery life reaches up to 20 hours for the 13.8-inch model and up to 19 hours for the 15-inch version.

The 15-inch Surface Laptop display now offers higher pixel density, increasing from 201 PPI to 262 PPI for sharper and more detailed visuals. The 13.8-inch model will also be available in the new Jade color alongside Platinum, Black and Dune.

Microsoft also highlights that the Surface Laptop camera currently leads the DXOMARK laptop camera rankings.

AI designed for real work

The company places significant emphasis on hybrid artificial intelligence workflows.

The new devices include dedicated NPUs for running AI workloads locally on the device while also taking advantage of cloud services when additional computing power is required.

According to Microsoft, the goal is seamless movement between local processing and cloud infrastructure, enabling users to run different types of AI workloads without limitations.

Improved touch and haptic experience

A key addition is advanced haptic feedback.

The new Surface Laptop touchpad and the Slim Pen used with Surface Pro provide a more natural interaction experience through subtle vibrations that confirm user actions across Windows and supported applications.

The devices also ship with Affinity applications pinned to the Start menu, reflecting the partnership between the two companies for creative tasks such as design, photo editing and publishing.

Focus on sustainability and repairability

Microsoft says the new Surface devices are built with enclosures made from 100% recycled aluminum, reducing the need for virgin materials.

The devices are also ENERGY STAR certified and exceed the program’s energy-efficiency requirements by at least 50%.

The company also introduced the new Surface Repair Tool, allowing users to diagnose issues and follow guided repair procedures for components such as the battery, display, touchpad and motherboard.

Availability

The new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop are available from June 16, while Surface for Business models will launch on July 14. Pricing starts at $1,499 for Surface Pro and $1,599 for Surface Laptop.

What we think

Microsoft continues to invest heavily in the Surface platform, placing strong emphasis on performance, battery life and local AI processing. The move to Snapdragon X2 shows the company remains committed to efficient ARM-based systems, while improvements in displays, graphics and repairability make this generation of Surface one of the most complete yet.
