OM System Ragù is the company’s second packaged food after Outdoor Monster Curry. It combines beef tendon simmered in tomato sauce with curry-style spices and is designed to accompany pasta, bread or rice.
Behind the odd product is a consistent strategy: OM Digital Solutions markets Micro Four Thirds around travel, nature and outdoor photography. A meal that stores easily, travels in a backpack and heats in water is more an extension of the outdoor brand than a serious move into the food industry.
What OM System Ragù contains
The base uses US beef tendon, tomato paste, sautéed onions, carrots, tomato ketchup and white wine. The recipe also includes curry powder, chicken stock, sugar, spices, ginger paste, oyster sauce and garlic paste.
The company describes a balance between tomato acidity and richness with an approachable flavour. This is not classic Italian ragù: curry seasoning and suitability for rice bring it closer to a Japanese retort meal with a European reference.
How it is served
Each package contains 200 grams of prepared sauce. OM System shows it over spaghetti with parsley and grated cheese, beside rice or as a sauce for bread. Accompaniments are not included.
Three to five minutes in boiling water
Preparation is simple. The sealed inner retort pouch is placed in boiling water for 3–5 minutes and then poured over the accompaniment. Official instructions explicitly say the pouch must not be microwaved.
Camping or location work therefore requires only a pot, water and a heat source. Pasta or rice requires separate preparation, while bread is the simplest option when weight and time take priority.

Ragù is strange only when separated from OM System’s outdoor strategy. As a limited branded product in Japan, it carries the company’s name from the camera strap to the camping table. Its actual value for photographers is not a special photographic property but ease of preparation.
