SmallRig and CineD have introduced the OrBrella FM 60B, a 60W foldable bi-colour soft light designed to go from transport to a working setup in roughly 15 seconds.
The idea is to combine the light source and diffusion surface inside the same umbrella-style structure, reducing the need for a separate COB fixture, softbox and longer setup for solo creators and small crews.
Eight LED strips with two lighting modes
The OrBrella frame carries eight LED strips that normally face the white interior of the umbrella. The light bounces off the fabric before reaching the subject, creating a larger, softer source for interviews, podcasts, portraits and close-up work.
A front diffusion cover can be added for even softer output. When more intensity or a more direct beam is needed, each strip can be disconnected from its USB-C point, flipped forward and used as a direct light, independently of the others.
60W, 2700–6500K and green/magenta correction
The OrBrella FM 60B is a 60W bi-colour fixture covering 2700K to 6500K with green/magenta correction. Published specifications list CRI 97 and TLCI above 98, aimed at more reliable colour reproduction for skin tones and mixed-light environments.
Core settings are available on the separate control box, with remote control through the SmallGoGo app. CineD also states that NFC pairing is available for faster smartphone connection.
34cm when folded, with V-mount or USB-C power
Folded, the OrBrella is about 34cm long and weighs 1.3kg, while the open fixture reaches roughly 68cm. The umbrella itself opens in around five seconds, with the complete basic setup taking about 15 seconds.
The control box is connected by a permanently attached cable and includes a built-in V-mount plate plus USB-C input for compatible power banks or chargers. A Sony NP-F adapter is being developed as an accessory. CineD states a runtime of about 1.5 hours from a 99Wh V-mount battery.
Price and availability
The crowdfunding campaign runs directly through SmallRig from September 25 to November 8, 2026. CineD lists the campaign price at $169.99 / €178.90, followed by a retail price of $199.99 / €209.90.
The first batch is expected to start shipping on January 20, 2027. The product is still under development and the published images show a prototype, so small details may change before final production.

What we think
The most interesting part of the OrBrella is not the 60W figure by itself, but the combination of a large soft source, fast setup and portability in a package that fits more easily into an interview kit. For solo operators and small crews working mainly indoors, that time saving could be meaningful. Because the product is still a prototype and independent photometric measurements have not yet been published, its real-world output against established COB-and-softbox setups still needs to be confirmed.
