YETI, best known for hard-wearing coolers and outdoor gear, is moving closer to the camera equipment market. The new LoadOut GoBox 28 Wheeled Gear Case is a hard-sided rolling case with IP67-rated protection, presented as suitable for optics, cameras and production equipment. At $350 in the US, it enters territory long associated with Pelican.
For photographers, the more important question is not just how tough the shell looks. Internal protection, the effort of transporting a fully loaded case and the actual price after accessories matter just as much.
IP67 protection, wheels and dimensions
The GoBox 28 uses YETI’s Defender shell material, puncture-resistant NeverFlat wheels and an extending aluminum Periscope handle. Lockdown latches, lockports, tie-down points, nonslip feet and a pressure-equalization valve complete the design. YETI claims IP65 and IP67 ratings, including resistance to dust and water jets and immersion at one meter for up to 30 minutes under the specified test conditions.

External dimensions are 55.9 × 35.6 × 22.9 cm, interior dimensions are 50.8 × 30 × 21.1 cm, and the empty case weighs approximately 6.1 kg. Actual quoted capacity is 29.04 liters despite the GoBox 28 name. YETI says the case meets most airlines’ cabin baggage size limits, but photographers must check both size and weight allowances for their flight.
Camera protection comes at an additional cost
The standard case does not include a padded camera insert. Optional KOR Protective Inserts use vacuum-form technology to conform to different combinations of camera bodies and lenses and can be reshaped. The KOR 28 is listed by YETI Europe at €280, a separate accessory price rather than an official Greek price for the complete case.
That distinction is essential. A waterproof hard shell keeps the elements out, but it does not by itself prevent cameras and lenses knocking against one another. YETI’s promotional image shows camera equipment inside the case, not a guarantee that the photographed organization system is included at the entry price.

GoBox 28, 68 and 88: Choosing a size
The rolling family also includes the GoBox 68 and GoBox 88, each listed at $450 in the US. The longer 68 can accommodate some tripods and other elongated gear, while the 88 offers a taller configuration. The two larger models are generally aimed at checked luggage, always subject to airline rules.

Wheels are convenient around airports and on paved routes, but the smaller case already weighs 6.1 kg before any cameras are loaded. That can consume much of a carry-on weight allowance. On stairs, loose ground and rough terrain, a rolling case also does not replace a backpack.
How it fits into the Pelican market
Pelican has a long-established range of hard cases and camera organization options. The next-generation Pelican Protector range introduced changes to materials, latches and wheels, while the Pelican PX35 Aegis 35L Creator Backpack uses a removable camera insert that transfers into compatible hard cases. That ability to switch carrying systems without repacking can be particularly useful on location.
YETI offers a different combination of shell protection, weather resistance and optional KOR inserts. We have not seen independent comparative drop tests or controlled checks using real camera loads, so there is no basis here for declaring the GoBox more or less protective than any particular Pelican model.
Price and availability
The GoBox 28 is listed at $350 in the US with a five-year YETI warranty. Compatible PackAttic, MOLLE, Gear Cube and KOR accessories are sold separately. The specific European retail price and availability of the wheeled GoBox 28 have not been confirmed for Greece by the available information; the US price should not be treated as the Greek checkout price.

What we think
Another credible competitor in hard equipment cases is welcome, particularly one explicitly positioning its products for camera crews and photographers. The GoBox 28 focuses on meaningful practical details: weather sealing, wheels, an extendable handle and configurable internal storage.
The difficulty is the price of the complete camera-carrying solution. At $350, the buyer gets the case, not necessarily secure lens and camera storage. The optional KOR insert adds significantly to the cost, while the case’s own weight makes airline travel a calculation rather than a given.
YETI has a credible reason to challenge Pelican, but the logo is not the deciding factor. What matters is whether the bodies and lenses remain secure on real journeys, how easily the insert can be reconfigured and how the whole system holds up after repeated use. Until independently tested, the GoBox 28 is a serious option to consider, not an automatic category winner.
Frequently asked questions
Does it include a camera insert?
No. KOR Protective Inserts and other organizing accessories are separate purchases.
Can it be carried onto an aircraft?
YETI says its dimensions comply with most airlines’ carry-on size requirements. Individual airlines may have different dimensions and weight limits.
