DJI has released the first official 8K/60p panoramic sample from the Osmo 360 II, days before the new camera’s European debut at IFA 2026.
The frame comes from filming LandSpace’s reusable Zhuque-3 rocket launch and return. The Osmo 360 II was used on the ground as part of a DJI camera network and, according to the company’s August 31 announcement, recorded 360-degree panoramic footage in 8K at 60 frames per second.
The significance is not the rocket itself, which PTTL has already covered, but the first clear confirmation of a core second-generation specification. The original Osmo 360 reaches native 8K at up to 50fps, so 60fps gives the new model useful headroom for smoother motion and mild slow motion without dropping below 8K.
What DJI actually confirmed
The official announcement identifies the Osmo 360 II as an upcoming flagship 360-degree camera and explicitly states panoramic video up to 8K/60fps. This is the first firm technical confirmation after early teasers showed action footage without a complete specification table.
DJI has not yet published international details for the sensors, lenses, bitrate, codecs, continuous recording time, storage or thermal management. The 8K/60p figure should therefore be treated as a confirmed maximum format, not a complete answer about second-generation image quality.
Why 60fps matters in 360 video
On a 360-degree camera, extra frames are useful for more than slow motion. They can render fast movement more clearly, make abrupt reframing feel smoother and improve the extraction of conventional shots from a larger panoramic frame. That matters for sport, action, vehicles and travel content.
At the same time, 8K in 360 degrees does not mean 8K detail in a normal flat frame. Resolution is distributed across the entire sphere and a reframed clip uses only part of it. The real improvement will depend on stitching, seam detail, rolling shutter, noise and bitrate.
The real-world sample and its limits
The Zhuque-3 launch is demanding: extremely bright engine highlights, fast movement, vibration, sky detail and a wide brightness range in one scene. It is therefore more meaningful than a static studio clip.
However, the announcement does not provide an original file for technical inspection or identify the stitching software, export format or additional processing. It confirms real production use and the recording mode, but does not yet permit an independent image-quality assessment.
From teasers to IFA 2026

What we think
Moving from 8K/50p to 8K/60p matters for action and post-production, but it cannot define a 360 camera by itself. The biggest difference will appear in stitching, reframed detail, dynamic range, thermals and battery life in the most demanding mode. The encouraging part is that DJI is no longer offering only a generic teaser: it has shown a real use case and confirmed a specific frame rate ahead of the European debut.
