NASA published an enhanced-color mosaic composed of four images acquired on May 15, 2026, during the spacecraft’s gravity-assist maneuver around Mars. The images were captured by the mission’s multispectral imager and cover part of the rugged southern highlands.
What the images reveal
The mosaic was assembled from four images taken over approximately six minutes as the spacecraft flew above the Martian surface. Using near-infrared, green, and blue filters, the camera highlighted craters, ridges, volcanic plains, and wind-shaped geological features.
Among the most notable landmarks are the 114-kilometer-wide Fournier crater and part of the Oenotria Scopuli cliff system associated with the Isidis impact basin.
