Iridient Developer 5.6 introduces new RAW processing for black-and-white imaging, led by Legato and two dedicated modes for cameras whose sensors have been converted to true monochrome.
Iridient Digital released version 5.6 on October 5, 2026, while expanding RAW support for new models and adding support for Sony’s new lightweight lossy RAW format.
Legato: new monochrome RAW processing
The headline addition is Legato, a monochrome RAW process that Iridient says delivers a smoother look with lower noise and fewer digital artifacts while retaining high levels of fine detail. The company also says it works particularly well with sensors modified for monochrome capture.
None and NonePlus for true monochrome sensors
Version 5.6 also adds None and NonePlus. None passes through the original sensor CFA data without processing and is intended specifically for monochrome-modified sensors. It is not intended for general use because some modified sensors can still show channel-balance or other pixel-level issues.
NonePlus applies only minimal processing to the RAW sensor data and targets the same class of sensors, aiming to provide a more immediately usable result in most cases.
New RAW support
- Sony RX10 V
- Canon EOS R8 Mark II
- Nikon Z 5IIC
- OM Digital PEN
- Leica SL3-P
- Apple iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
Support has also been added for Sony’s new lossy “lightweight” RAW compression, including the Sony A7 V and A7R VI. The Nikon Z 5IIC is supported, although its lossy High Efficiency modes are not yet supported.
Improvements and fixes
Version 5.6 updates DNG color and white-balance defaults to match Adobe DNG Converter 18.6 and refreshes the Adobe DNG SDK, TIFF, JPEG, OpenEXR and libraw libraries. Fixes also address loading issues on older Nikon cameras such as the D100 and an issue involving the “s” variant of the Olympus E-M10 Mark IIIs.
Availability and pricing
Iridient Developer 5.6 is available for macOS. A new license costs US$119.99, plus applicable taxes. The update is free for registered users who purchased a license after February 16, 2025, while older license holders can receive a 40% upgrade discount. The demo is fully functional and has no time or usage limit, but exported images are permanently watermarked.

What we think
The key point in version 5.6 is that monochrome is not treated merely as a conversion from a color image. Legato, None and NonePlus target more specialized RAW workflows, particularly photographers working with true or modified monochrome sensors.
Frequently asked questions
What is Legato?
It is Iridient’s new monochrome RAW process, designed for smoother rendering, lower noise and fewer digital artifacts while retaining fine detail.
What are None and NonePlus for?
They are intended specifically for cameras with monochrome-modified sensors. None applies no RAW processing, while NonePlus performs only minimal processing.
Does version 5.6 support new cameras?
