Eleven women photographers bring their personal stories to T.A.F. in Athens through the group exhibition “Soundless Stories”, running from November 26 to December 6, 2026.

This is the first group exhibition by the newly formed Momo Lens Art, curated by Hypatia Kornarou. The opening takes place on Thursday, November 26, at 19:00, at T.A.F. / the art foundation in Monastiraki, with free admission.

From family memory to self-portraiture

The exhibition brings together different photographic approaches that converge around women’s identity, family bonds, trauma, and memories passed down through generations. The images move between observation, staged storytelling, and visual experimentation.

In her curatorial statement, Hypatia Kornarou highlights the exploration of visible and invisible worlds and photography’s ability to create a space for personal freedom. Self-portraiture becomes a way for the artist to reconsider her place within the image, while silence leaves viewers room to find their own meanings.

Photography’s relationship with women’s memory also appears in “What Wasn’t Said Was Embroidered”, an exhibition in which family stories unfolded through photographs and textiles. In “Soundless Stories,” the eleven artists take different personal paths, with lived experience as a common starting point.

The eleven photographers and their work

In the images provided for the exhibition, the body, domestic space, archives and staging become distinct ways of telling a story. Below is one work by each of the eleven participating photographers.

About Momo Lens Art

The photography group Momo Lens Art was founded by Hypatia Kornarou and takes its name from the title character of Michael Ende’s novel Momo. It aims to provide a place for creative exchange and artistic research, where members develop cohesive photographic series and explore different forms of visual expression.

A diversity of voices is central to a collective undertaking of this kind. Another example is “Women in Focus” in Athens, where photographers explored women’s identity through portraits, staged images and documentary photography.

What we think

What stands out is that a shared theme does not force eleven photographers to speak in the same visual language. Some images centre on the human figure, while others turn to a space or a personal record. That variety gives visitors room to interpret the work rather than directing them towards a single reading.

For anyone developing a photographic series, the exhibition offers something tangible: a chance to see how personal experience can become a complete visual idea. The individual image matters, but so does the conversation between different artistic voices within the same exhibition.
