Event Details
The group photography exhibition “Biogeographies” brings together three artists exploring the relationship between personal memory and their places of origin at Photometria 2026 in Ioannina.
The exhibition runs at the Municipal Art Gallery of Ioannina from September 26 to November 27, 2026, in collaboration with MOMus – Thessaloniki Museum of Photography. It is curated by Iraklis Papaioannou.
Three photographers, three bodies of work
Viki Georgiou presents “The Backyard”, a project connecting a return to one’s place of origin with personal experience. Vasilis Nempegleriotis contributes “Stories from the Plain”, a photographic exploration of the Thessalian landscape. Stratis Vogiatzis presents “Plain”.
The three projects meet around rural landscapes, memory and the ways familiar surroundings become material for photographic storytelling. Their images connect individual experience with a place’s wider history.
Photography as personal geography
In curator Iraklis Papaioannou’s approach, geography intersects with autobiography. Documentary observation and staged imagery offer different ways of examining the relationship between past and present.
