Event Details
Maria Pavlaki brings together thirty years of black-and-white film photography in her photobook “Kati Diko Tous” (“Something of Their Own”), which she will present in Elefsina on Sunday, 15 November 2026.
The presentation is organised by the Elefsina Photography Club as part of its tenth-anniversary programme. The event starts at 18:30 and admission is free.
A photobook about people and untold stories
“Kati Diko Tous” brings together a long, people-centred photographic journey. Pavlaki trains her lens on individuals, expressions and moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed. Black-and-white film connects these encounters in a personal account of memory and human presence.
“Every photograph is the result of a fraction of a second and an entire lifetime,” the photographer writes in the statement accompanying the event. To her, every face and every shadow carries a story waiting for someone to recognise it.

Maria Pavlaki’s photographic career
Born in Athens, Maria Pavlaki worked for 37 years as an educator at the Eugène Delacroix Franco-Hellenic School, where she also taught photography. An important part of her creative development is linked to the Photographic Circle and its teacher and founder, Platon Rivellis.
She participated in the Photographic Circle’s exhibitions between 1992 and 2001, in Athens, Thessaloniki, Venice and Perugia, and took part in the “Athens 2000” group exhibition at the Benaki Museum. Her first photobook, “People”, was published in 1997 by Fotochoros.
Her work extends beyond photography exhibitions. In 2001 she was the stills photographer on Yannis Economides’ film “Matchbox”, and in 2013 she joined a Green Project photographic trip to Africa. Her images documenting renewable energy were exhibited at the Goulandris Natural History Museum. She has also worked on theatre and dance photography.

The Elefsina presentation on 15 November
The Elefsina Photography Club is hosting the photographer at the Refreshment Café – Arts & Culture Meeting Space, at the junction of Kanellopoulou and Salaminos streets, on the Elefsina waterfront. The presentation takes place on Sunday, 15 November 2026, at 18:30, with free admission.
The event forms part of the Club’s anniversary programme, which has also included the presentation of Hypatia Kornarou’s MOOD and RARE photobooks. Another part of that programme is the MedPhoto Nomadic Library in Elefsina, highlighting the photobook as a way of building visual narratives.

What we think
It is always rewarding to encounter photographs as a carefully edited book rather than isolated frames disappearing down a feed. Here, the thread is particularly compelling: three decades of film work and a gaze consistently focused on people.
For street and portrait photographers, one of the most valuable parts of an event like this is hearing how the photographer chooses what stays in the book, what gets left out, and how the sequence finds its rhythm. Those decisions turn individual photographs into a coherent body of work with its own voice. They also make this presentation worth attending if you are in Elefsina on 15 November.
