Have a photographic series that tells a compelling story? Photometria International Photography Festival has opened entries for Parallel Voices 2027, offering nine portfolios a place in a group exhibition at next year’s festival.

Submissions opened on 1 November 2026 and close on 15 December 2026 at 23:59. Each photographer submits 15 photographs; the jury will choose eight images from each of the nine portfolios selected for the exhibition.

What kind of work is Photometria looking for?

The competition does not impose a narrowly defined subject. Photographers may explore a topic of their choosing, approach an idea from several perspectives or build a visual narrative about the world around them. What matters is a coherent body of work rather than a selection of unrelated standout images.

This approach continues the annual Parallel Voices 2026 portfolio call. The previous edition’s selected work became part of Photometria’s exhibition programme in Ioannina.

Judging panel and selection criteria

Portfolios will be assessed on the photographs’ relevance to their subject, their coherence as a unified series and their artistic and aesthetic quality.

The judges are Panagiotis Papoutsis and Achilleas Tziakos, founders of Photometria Festival, together with Panagiotis Pappas, the festival’s artistic director.

How to submit your portfolio

Submit 15 photographs as JPG files, measuring 1,500 pixels on the longest side and specified at 300 ppi. Name each image using the format First-Last-Number.jpg, for example Maria-Papadopoulou-01.jpg.

Send the files through SwissTransfer to [email protected]. Include a PDF containing a self-portrait, project title, full name, nationality, address and city, email, telephone number, biography of up to 150 words and a project description of up to 150 words. An extended artist statement of up to 300 words and an Instagram account may be included where applicable.

The entry fee is €20. Payment information is available on the Parallel Voices 2027 entry page. Applications are only considered valid once payment has been completed and the portfolio submitted.

Results, exhibition and usage rights

Results will be announced within two months of the submission deadline through the festival website and social channels, with selected photographers also notified by email. Nine portfolios will appear in the “Parallel Voices” group exhibition at Photometria International Photography Festival 2027, at a venue to be determined by the organisers.

Selected photographers will subsequently be asked to supply high-resolution files for printing. They may also choose to present their work at the festival and receive discounted accommodation arranged through the organisers.

The competition terms allow Photometria to use selected photographs to promote the exhibition and future festival activities, with credit to the artist. Printed portfolios will remain in the festival archive, which retains the right to manage and exhibit them again. Photographers are responsible for securing the consent of people depicted in their photographs. Entry also entails agreeing to receive festival updates by email.

The full terms are available on the official Parallel Voices page.

What we think

The appeal of Parallel Voices is that it rewards a complete portfolio, rather than a single spectacular photograph. That changes how you should edit your submission: you need rhythm, consistency and images that build on one another, even where some of them would not stand out individually in a single-image competition.

We would spend serious time editing the sequence before submitting. Your 15 photographs need to work together, but it is worth considering which eight could sustain the story on an exhibition wall.

Frequently asked questions

Do all 15 photographs need to share a theme?

The jury evaluates relevance and coherence as a unified portfolio. A series with a clear idea or narrative best meets those stated criteria.

Should I send eight or 15 photographs?

Send 15. If your portfolio is selected, the jury will choose eight of them for the exhibition.

What is the exact submission cutoff?

The deadline is 15 December 2026 at 23:59. The supplied press release does not specify a time zone.
