Fujifilm has confirmed the arrival of its black-and-white QuickSnap: the single-use 35mm film camera launched in Japan on 29 October 2026.

Announced in July alongside the waterproof Active model to mark 40 years of QuickSnap, the camera originally had no firm Japanese release date. The original announcement of the two QuickSnap models outlined the range; the latest update provides the confirmed launch date for Japan.

Fujifilm has also released a promotional film for the black-and-white model:

27 black-and-white frames, no settings to adjust

The QuickSnap Black and White comes preloaded with ISO 400 35mm black-and-white negative film for 27 exposures. It uses a fixed-focus 32mm f/10 plastic lens, manual film advance and a fixed shutter speed of 1/140 second, with a recommended subject distance starting at approximately 1 metre.

Its built-in flash is operated by a switch and works at roughly 1–3 metres. That makes it useful for nearby portraits, groups and indoor scenes, although exposure control is far more limited than on a conventional film or digital camera.

Black-and-white film processed in C-41 chemistry

There is one particularly useful practical detail: despite producing monochrome photographs, the film uses the C-41 process normally associated with colour negatives. It does not require specialist black-and-white chemistry, provided the lab accepts this particular film. Processing and any optional scanning are charged separately.

Fujifilm’s official sample images emphasise contrast, skin tones and visible grain, qualities that suit portraits and street photography particularly well.

Pricing and availability

The 29 October announcement confirms availability in Japan. Fujifilm Europe’s initial July announcement gave the camera a suggested retail price of €23.99 and targeted a release from September 2026, but that does not confirm stock or an arrival date in Greece. No specific Greek release date has been officially confirmed.

What we think

The appeal of the QuickSnap Black and White is how little it asks of you. Twenty-seven frames, no preview and no menus: for a walk with friends or an afternoon of street photography, that simplicity may encourage you to look a little longer before pressing the shutter.

The fixed f/10 lens and shutter speed are not forgiving in poor light, though. With ISO 400 film, we would stick to daylight outdoors or close subjects with flash. It is also worth asking a local lab about processing and scanning before buying: €23.99 is the suggested European camera price, not the complete cost of receiving finished photographs.

Frequently asked questions

Does this black-and-white film need specialist processing?

Not necessarily. It uses standard C-41 chemistry, but you should still check that your lab accepts the particular film.

Is the QuickSnap Black and White available in Greece?

Fujifilm has confirmed its Japanese launch for 29 October 2026. No official Greek release date has been announced.
