OnePlus has introduced the Ace 7 Pro with a 200MP main camera, 3.5x periscope telephoto and 8K video, but made an unusual choice: it dropped the ultrawide camera entirely.

Announced in China on October 29, 2026, the phone places part of its active cooling system in the same rear module that houses the two lenses. It is a clear sign that OnePlus is prioritising sustained gaming performance as well as photography.

200MP main camera and 50MP periscope telephoto

The main camera uses a 1/1.56-inch-type, 200MP sensor with an f/1.8 lens, 23mm equivalent focal length, autofocus and optical image stabilisation (OIS). The resolution offers room to crop well-lit images, but by itself cannot guarantee stronger fine detail or dynamic range.

The second rear camera is a 50MP periscope telephoto with an f/2.8 aperture, 80mm equivalent focal length, autofocus and OIS. OnePlus specifies 3.5x optical magnification. Its promoted 1x, 2x, 3.5x and 7x framing options do not represent four separate optical lenses.

Without an ultrawide, the main camera’s 23mm focal length is the widest rear-facing view available. That is a real limitation for tall buildings, cramped interiors or close-up landscape compositions. The contrast with the OnePlus 16 and its ultrawide camera is revealing: two phones from the same company, both with 200MP sensors, take very different approaches to focal-length coverage.

Still photography supports JPEG, PNG, HEIF and RAW files, alongside a Pro shooting mode. The front-facing camera is a 16MP unit with an f/2.4 aperture. More information here.

8K/30p and 4K/120p video

For video, the Ace 7 Pro supports up to 8K at 30fps or 4K at 120fps on its rear cameras, with 4K/120p also listed in the stabilised recording modes. There is a professional video mode, HDR recording and 4K/120p slow motion.

At 120fps, footage can be slowed to one-quarter speed on a 30fps timeline. However, the published specifications do not provide the same level of detail about codecs, bitrates or a Log recording profile. A particular professional colour-grading workflow should not be assumed without that information.

Why no ultrawide? The cooling system takes centre stage

The rear module houses two lenses alongside the intake and airflow components of the active cooling system. OnePlus describes two air paths: one directs airflow toward the chipset and the other across the rear cover, reducing the heat felt by the user. The company has not explicitly said it removed the ultrawide lens to make room for a fan; the design priorities are nevertheless visible.

The phone combines the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 6.78-inch OLED screen with up to 165Hz in general use and 185Hz in supported games, a 9,000mAh battery and 100W wired charging. That hardware is also relevant to creators shooting extended sessions, although an active fan alone is not a measured guarantee of uninterrupted 8K recording duration.

Price and availability

The OnePlus Ace 7 Pro has launched in China in configurations ranging from 12GB RAM / 256GB to 16GB / 1TB. The announced regular retail price starts at CNY 4,799, while an introductory Chinese offer was advertised from CNY 3,649, before any additional local subsidies. These are not Greek retail prices.

No official European price or confirmed launch in Greece has been identified.

What we think

For portraits or details around the city, a good 80mm telephoto is much more useful than another megapixel headline. The 3.5x lens changes the framing without forcing us to move closer, while optical stabilisation helps with handheld shots.

But losing the ultrawide hurts more than a spec sheet suggests. In a small room, a narrow street or in front of a large building, stepping farther back is not always an option. A 200MP sensor cannot solve that problem: cropping makes the frame tighter, not wider.

For video creators, 4K/120p is genuinely handy for smooth slow motion, while 8K leaves room to reframe. We would still prefer a genuinely wide lens for close-range and confined-space shooting. OnePlus has built an interesting camera-phone and gaming-phone hybrid, but this particular lens selection will not suit everyone.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Ace 7 Pro’s 7x option a separate optical telephoto lens?

No. Its rear cameras are a 23mm main lens and an 80mm periscope telephoto offering 3.5x optical magnification. The 7x option is an additional framing setting, not a third lens.

Is there an official Ace 7 Pro price in Greece?

No. The confirmed announcement and prices apply to China, with no confirmed Greek or wider European launch.
