SIRUI has introduced the BH-60, a hybrid tripod head that switches between the freedom of a photographic ball head and controlled video movements without replacing the head.

Designed for creators who shoot both stills and video on the same assignment, it uses a rotating selector ring to switch shooting modes quickly.

The following video demonstrates how the SIRUI BH-60 works.

How the hybrid head works

In Full-Motion mode, the BH-60 acts as a photographic ball head. Its 60mm ball allows free repositioning for fast composition in landscape, portrait and wildlife photography.

Turning the ring to Limited-Motion mode restricts roll while retaining the two axes needed for video: 360° horizontal panning and ±40° tilting.

The damping mechanism is mechanical and uses no damping oil. SIRUI says this design avoids problems that extreme temperature changes may cause in oil-based damping systems. Pan and tilt drag are fixed rather than independently adjustable.

Load ratings, counterbalance and handling

Made from aluminum alloy, the BH-60 weighs 950g. SIRUI quotes a maximum static holding capacity of 20kg with the head locked in photo mode and a 5kg counterbalance rating for video. These are different ratings for different operating conditions and should not be treated interchangeably.

The removable control handle is 23cm long and mounts on the right side. The Arca-Swiss-compatible quick-release platform features a locking lever and an additional safety mechanism.

Other details include an independent 360° panoramic base with degree markings, a bubble level and a magnetically stored Allen key. A 3/8-inch tripod thread is provided underneath, along with a 1/4-inch adapter.

This approach differs from the Manfrotto ONE Hybrid Tripod, which focuses on swapping separate heads quickly. Here, both operating modes live in the same head.

Technical specifications

The ball is 60mm in diameter, the base measures 68mm, and the head dimensions are 84 × 90 × 131mm. Video operation offers 360° panning, ±40° tilting and fixed mechanical pan/tilt drag.

Price and availability

Pre-orders opened on October 15, 2026, with general sales starting on October 20. The BH-60 is listed at €239 in SIRUI’s official European store and $219 in its US store. Actual availability depends on regional stock.

What we think

Switching tripod heads just to capture a short moving shot is a nuisance. The BH-60 addresses a familiar problem for solo creators, travelers and anyone who regularly moves between still photography and video.

The idea is especially appealing for wildlife work: frame a still quickly, then capture a controlled camera move without setting up another tripod. With a long telephoto lens, though, how smoothly a pan starts and stops matters a great deal.

Fixed drag is the main trade-off. A dedicated fluid head often lets you tune each axis independently to match your rig. This design prioritizes convenience over that level of control. At 950g, weight also deserves consideration when packing light.

At €239, we see it as a practical hybrid solution rather than a complete replacement for a specialized cinema head. Before buying, we would consider our camera-and-lens balance, the rig weight and how precisely our video work needs to control camera movements.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 20kg rating also apply to video mode?

No. The 20kg figure is the maximum stated static holding capacity with the head locked in photo mode. Video counterbalance is rated at 5kg.

Can pan and tilt drag be adjusted separately?

No. SIRUI specifies fixed drag for these movements. Ball tension adjustment is a different mechanism.

Can the handle mount on the left?

The removable BH-60 handle is intended to mount on the right side.
