How does a child begin to notice a scene and decide what belongs in the frame? In Bluey’s Happy Snaps, a camera sits at the heart of a family adventure starring Bluey and Bingo.

The Gameloft Brisbane game launches tomorrow, October 15, 2026, on PC and consoles. The sisters discover Dad’s old camera, explore familiar places, and turn the pictures they take into their own digital scrapbook.

From taking pictures to making a scrapbook

Players visit the family home and recognisable locations around Brisbane, including South Bank, the park from “Spy Game”, and the lookout seen in “The Sign”. They can photograph familiar characters as well as Australian wildlife, including koalas and colourful lorikeets.

Photography unlocks hundreds of stickers and decorative items that children can use to assemble their own scrapbook pages. The emphasis is on selecting memorable moments, keeping them, and deciding how to tell a story with them.

A second player can join locally, exploring or posing while the lead player uses the camera. It is a family exploration game rather than a photography simulator with exposure and focusing controls.

Taking the idea beyond the screen

Gameloft also promotes “Play for Real Life” activities that encourage children to carry the fun into everyday life. For parents, that creates an opportunity to talk about what makes something worth photographing, not just what can be collected in a game.

The same idea works with a real camera. A simple photography project for children using a disposable camera turns searching for subjects and taking pictures into a real-world observation exercise. Bluey’s digital scrapbook might inspire a similar activity, although this does not mean the game can export photos to a physical camera.

What we think

The most appealing thing about Bluey’s Happy Snaps is its approach to photography as curiosity. For a young child, choosing to photograph an animal, an expression or a detail in the background comes long before learning camera settings. A game that makes those decisions central can introduce the thinking behind making an image.

The scrapbook matters just as much as pressing the shutter. Choosing which moments to save and how to arrange them is a small exercise in visual storytelling. Photographers who make albums will recognise the process, even when it is presented through cartoon characters and stickers.

This should not be mistaken for formal photography instruction. Its value for families lies more in the conversations it might spark: why did you choose that scene, what caught your eye, and what would you photograph outside? That is where the game could connect with real image-making.
