A design that looks back to 1937 ARRIFLEX cameras
HONOR says the rear camera architecture draws on classic ARRIFLEX cameras with three-lens rotating turrets dating back to 1937. On the Magic9 Pro Max, that heritage is reinterpreted as a 1+2 layout, using one dominant circular area and two smaller camera units to create a clear cinema-camera reference without reproducing the mechanical turret itself.
The camera module is also raised to help reduce accidental finger obstruction while shooting, according to HONOR.
Dual 200MP cameras and a 50MP ultrawide
The 200MP Ultra Night Main Camera uses a 1/1.28-inch sensor, an f/1.57 lens, OIS and what HONOR describes as 3-degree gimbal-level stabilization. The 200MP Ultra Night Telephoto Camera uses a 1/1.4-inch sensor, an f/2.6 lens and OIS, while the third rear module is a 50MP f/2.0 ultrawide camera.
HONOR claims CIPA 8.0 stabilization performance for both the main and telephoto cameras. The 6nm HONOR Imaging Chip H1 moves AI noise reduction into the RAW domain in real time. HONOR also reports an 8dB signal-to-noise improvement and up to 14 stops of cinematic dynamic range under its own lab conditions; these figures should not be treated as independent real-world measurements.
ARRI LogC3, Wide Gamut 3 and 14 Looks
In ARRI CINEMA Mode, Magic9 Pro Max supports 10-bit ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and recording up to 4K 60fps. The interface brings together controls including resolution, frame rate, shutter, ISO, white balance, focus, lens selection, aspect ratio, stabilization, exposure compensation, audio presets and display mode.
There are 14 preset ARRI Looks — two conversion Looks and 12 stylized Looks — while the ARRI Look Library provides 87 predefined creative gradings. The practical value is the attempt to create a more consistent chain from Log capture through preview and grading, rather than simply adding another in-camera filter.
Audio and creation tools
For sound capture, the phone includes a Cinematic Directional Microphone using a four-microphone system. HONOR extends the imaging workflow with the optional HONOR Teleconverter G200, HONOR Teleconverter G500 and HONOR SmallRig Mobile Video Kit, allowing the phone to be built into a more complete compact shooting rig.
Magic9 Pro Max also uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and an 8,800mAh typical-capacity battery, with up to 100W wired and 80W wireless charging under HONOR’s stated conditions. The capacity is relevant for creators recording longer clips, but real-world endurance and sustained 4K thermal behavior still need independent testing.
Price and availability
HONOR Magic9 Pro Max launches first in China in Shadow Black, Glacier Silver and Moss Green, with 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB configurations. Sales begin on September 28, 2026, with pricing starting at RMB 6,499.
HONOR says rollouts across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Southeast Asia and other international markets will be announced shortly. No official European or Greek price was found during the check.
