Blackmagic Design has released Fusion Studio 21.1.2, bringing up to four times faster OGraf playback and useful refinements for motion graphics and VFX artists.

The October 27, 2026 update focuses on animated graphics previews, template controls and Linux compatibility. Fusion Studio is Blackmagic’s standalone node-based compositing application for visual effects, titles, 3D and animation.

Up to 4× faster OGraf playback and responsive templates

Blackmagic claims up to 4× faster OGraf playback. For motion designers repeatedly tweaking titles and animated graphics, that is primarily a preview improvement—not a claim that every Fusion operation runs four times faster.

OGraf templates now support select and multi-select controls, allowing designers to expose predefined choices rather than relying on editors to make manual changes. Responsive templates can adapt to aspect ratios, which is useful when a graphic needs both landscape and vertical video versions.

Stop actions in OGraf clips now follow their action durations, and Inspector action controls have been improved. Together, these changes make animation timing and stopping points more predictable within a template.

What changes for Linux productions

Linux gains support for OGraf and Lottie graphics, including OGraf rendering. That gives teams using Linux workstations access to those animated graphics formats without switching operating systems for this part of their workflow. Fusion Studio already ran on Linux; the new support concerns these graphics formats, not the application’s first Linux release.

The release also adds custom clip input and output labels for OpenFX. Clearer labels can make complicated effects with multiple inputs easier to connect and manage inside a production pipeline.

Compositing, 3D and scripting fixes

The fixes cover Displace 3D channel names, time-mapping inputs in Mapped Duplicate 3D, and a memory issue affecting certain Perspective Positioner settings. Blackmagic also addresses Follower animation using expressions and very small erode/dilate values.

Other corrections address multiple title selection unexpectedly clearing text, missing undo events for some dropdown controls and slow reading of large EXR headers. The changelog also lists Lua scripts, scripts on ARM64 systems, OGraf custom text fields and Film Look Creator gate-weave controls.

Faster OGraf playback is also part of DaVinci Resolve 21.1.2, while this release focuses on the standalone Fusion Studio environment for building and compositing effects.

Availability and upgrading

Fusion Studio 21.1.2 is available through Blackmagic Design’s Support Center for supported platforms. Fusion Studio is a paid application that can be activated with a compatible Fusion Studio or DaVinci Resolve Studio license. Before upgrading in the middle of a production, back up compositions and custom scripts.

What we think

The most welcome change here is how it could make one very specific part of the job less tedious: adjust an animation, preview it, then jump back into the controls. Across a project full of titles and lower thirds, even modest reductions in repeated waiting add up.

Responsive templates also make practical sense. Anyone delivering the same campaign in 16:9 and 9:16 knows that repurposing graphics is not always a simple resize. When a template adapts properly, the team has fewer separate versions to maintain.

For creators working on Linux, OGraf and Lottie support fills a specific compatibility gap. We would still check existing macros, plugins and scripts before upgrading a live production: the fixes are welcome, but keeping the whole pipeline consistent matters more than a single performance number.

Frequently asked questions

Is Linux support new to Fusion Studio 21.1.2?

No. Fusion Studio already supported Linux. This update adds OGraf and Lottie graphics support on Linux.

Does “up to 4× faster” apply to the entire application?

No. Blackmagic’s figure refers to OGraf playback, not a fourfold speed guarantee for every compositing or rendering operation.
