Peak Design has introduced the City Line, a new collection of six lightweight bags and backpacks for everyday use, with European prices ranging from €69.99 to €199.99.

The new collection includes two City Backpacks, two City Crescents, the City Tote, and the City Sling, covering capacities from 2 to 22 liters. The company is emphasizing reduced weight, softer construction, and straightforward organization rather than adding more technical features.

The City Line is significant because it moves beyond the dedicated camera bag category commonly associated with Peak Design. The new models target a broader audience looking for bags suited to commuting, work, personal items, and everyday urban use.

Six models for different needs

The collection starts with the City Sling 2L, the smallest option in the lineup, designed to carry only the essentials. Its slim construction stays close to the body, while the strap includes a quick-adjust mechanism and a quick-release clip.

The City Crescent is available in 6L and 12L capacities. Both versions feature a curved, ergonomic shape and can be carried across the body. The smaller model is intended for a lighter daily load, while the larger version provides additional space for more items or longer periods away from home.

The City Tote 15L is Peak Design’s modern interpretation of a traditional tote. Its vertical profile and soft structure are designed to make it easier to carry on public transport and through crowded spaces, while retaining internal organization and protection for its contents.

The collection is completed by the City Backpack 15L and 22L. The smaller version is intended for streamlined daily carry, while the larger option offers additional space for commuting and longer days away from home. Both include dedicated laptop and tablet protection.

MonoShell construction with fewer seams

All City Line products use Peak Design’s new MonoShell 660D material. The company describes the construction as lightweight and flexible, with fewer seams, clean exterior surfaces, and a matte finish.

MonoShell also provides weather resistance, while the bags avoid the rigid and heavily technical appearance of many traditional backpacks. Inside, users will find pockets for organizing devices and small items, quick-access compartments, easy-pull zippers, and, depending on the model, magnetic closures. The range also includes a concealed pocket for a tracking device such as an Apple AirTag.

The integrated BagLev hook

One of the collection’s distinguishing features is BagLev, a stowable hook that allows a bag to hang from the edge of a table or the back of a chair.

When it is not being used, the hook folds into a dedicated storage area on the bag. The system is intended to keep the product away from dirty floors in cafés, workplaces, stations, and other public spaces. BagLev is included with the City Backpack, City Crescent, and City Tote, while the City Sling uses a different internal organization system.

These are not dedicated camera bags

Despite being made by Peak Design, the City Line models are not presented as dedicated camera bags. They do not include the internal dividers found in the company’s photography-focused collections and are not designed to integrate directly with its existing Camera Cubes.

A small Camera Cube or another independent insert may potentially fit inside, but the range was primarily developed for everyday objects, electronic devices, and personal gear. Photographers who require purpose-built protection and dedicated spaces for camera bodies and lenses should take this distinction into account.

Available colors

The City Line is presented in six colors: Black, Cypress, Eclipse, Lapis, Moon, and Stone.

Cypress is a dark green, Eclipse is close to burgundy, Lapis is a bright blue, Moon is an off-white shade, and Stone is a neutral gray. The availability of individual colors may vary depending on the model and market.

European availability and pricing

Peak Design is making the City Line available immediately through its official European store and authorized retailers, without launching the products through a Kickstarter campaign. The company also advertises fast worldwide shipping, easy returns and exchanges, and a lifetime guarantee.

  • Peak Design City Crescent 6L: €89.99.

What we think

The City Line represents a clear attempt by Peak Design to bring its design philosophy to a wider audience without focusing exclusively on photographic equipment. Its reduced weight, discreet appearance, and BagLev hook add practical value, although pricing remains firmly within the premium category. For photographers, the lack of built-in dividers means the bags function better as everyday carriers that can potentially accommodate a separate insert rather than complete camera-carrying solutions.
