Polaroid is celebrating Pokémon’s 30th anniversary with its biggest collaboration to date, introducing three limited-edition instant cameras alongside special film and accessories.
The Polaroid x Pokémon collection consists of nine special-edition products in total, with the cameras based on the Polaroid Now Generation 3 and Polaroid Go Generation 3 and featuring designs inspired by the Poké Ball, Pikachu and Sylveon.
According to Polaroid’s official announcement, pre-orders open on August 25, with the full global release scheduled for October 5, 2026. The collection will be produced in limited quantities.
The collaboration is interesting beyond its collectible appeal because it connects two brands with very different but powerful relationships with nostalgia. Pokémon turns 30 after launching in 1996, while Polaroid continues to invest in instant analog photography at a time when younger consumers are showing renewed interest in tangible, analog experiences.
Three cameras: Poké Ball, Pikachu and Sylveon
The larger Polaroid Now Generation 3 receives a Poké Ball-inspired design and is priced at €139.99 in Europe.
The two smaller Polaroid Go Generation 3 editions are:
- Pikachu Edition — €99.99
- Sylveon Edition — €99.99
The changes are primarily visual and collectible, with the cameras retaining the technical platforms of their standard Generation 3 counterparts.

How much more do the special editions cost?
The standard Polaroid Now Generation 3 launched in Europe at €129.99, compared with €139.99 for the Pokémon version — a €10 premium.
The standard Go Generation 3 launched at €89.99, while the Pikachu and Sylveon Editions cost €99.99. Again, the difference is €10.
For a licensed limited-edition product, that relatively small premium may make the cameras attractive even to collectors who would not normally buy an instant camera.
The Pokémon Polaroid Now Generation 3
The largest camera in the collection is based on the Polaroid Now Generation 3.
It shoots full-size Polaroid i-Type and 600 film and features a two-zone autofocus system, self-timer, double-exposure mode, tripod mount and built-in flash. The Generation 3 offers six usable apertures from f/11 to f/64 and battery life rated for up to 15 film packs.
The standard camera’s outer shell also uses 40% recycled plastics.
Pikachu and Sylveon Polaroid Go editions
The Pikachu and Sylveon versions are based on the Go Generation 3, Polaroid’s smallest analog instant camera.
It measures 106.5 × 83.8 × 64.6mm and weighs approximately 252 grams without film.
The camera uses a 63.75mm fixed-focus lens with f/14.4 and f/32 apertures, shutter speeds from 1/500 to one second, a selfie mirror, self-timer, double-exposure mode and a stronger flash than the previous generation.
It uses Polaroid Go film and offers battery life rated for up to 15 film packs.
Pokémon film too
Polaroid is also releasing three special film editions:
| Film | European price |
| Color i-Type Film Pokémon Edition | €21.99 |
| Go Color Film Pikachu Double Pack | €22.99 |
| Go Color Film Sylveon Double Pack | €22.99 |
The film packs include Pokémon frames and custom dark slides.

Three accessories complete the nine-piece range
The accessories are:
- Polaroid Go Camera Case Pokémon Edition — €24.99
- Polaroid Go Photo Album Pokémon Edition — €24.99
- Polaroid Camera Strap Pokémon Edition — €14.99
The strap works with both camera families.

Availability
The collection will launch globally in limited quantities.
Pre-orders open on Polaroid.com on August 25, 2026, with full release following on October 5.
Pokémon Center will also carry the collection in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.
Why the collaboration makes sense
Polaroid is not trying to compete directly with smartphones on technical image quality or convenience.
Its appeal is built around a different experience: a limited number of exposures, a physical print and a photograph that exists outside a screen.
The company has linked its recent Go Generation 3 to renewed interest among younger consumers in tactile, less digital experiences and lo-fi aesthetics.
Pokémon fits that idea unusually well, appealing both to younger fans and to people who first encountered the franchise in the 1990s.
What we think
Polaroid x Pokémon does not introduce a technological breakthrough in instant photography. The cameras are based on existing Generation 3 models.
However, the collaboration goes considerably further than placing a logo on a camera. There are three camera designs, dedicated film, custom dark slides and accessories, while the price premium for the cameras is only €10 compared with the standard editions.
The main question may therefore not be whether Pokémon fans are interested, but how quickly the limited quantities disappear once pre-orders begin.
