7Artisans has released firmware V1.32 for the L-Mount version of its full-frame AF 10mm F2.5 MAX fisheye, targeting improved autofocus performance.

The announcement is specifically for the L-Mount edition and does not announce an equivalent update for the Sony E or Nikon Z versions. The company describes the change as “Improved Autofocus Performance”, without publishing measurements or identifying individual AF modes.

The original 7Artisans post:

What changes in autofocus

V1.32 focuses on autofocus behaviour on the AF 10mm F2.5 MAX L-Mount. No new focus modes or other additional features have been announced. For photographers and filmmakers, the stated benefit is an improvement to the existing AF behaviour, rather than any change to the lens’s optical specifications.

On a fisheye capable of focusing as close as 15 centimetres, consistent AF is particularly useful when a subject is extremely close to the camera or moving within the unusually wide frame.

Where to download V1.32 and how to install it

The file is listed on the official 7Artisans Firmware Upgrade page. Under Full Frame Lenses, choose AF 10mm F2.5 → L-Mount and follow the manufacturer’s update guide. Firmware files on this page are organised by lens model and mount.

The lens includes a USB-C port for firmware updates. Use only the file intended for the L-Mount version, avoid disconnecting the lens during installation and follow the official installation instructions. The announcement does not provide camera-by-camera details about V1.32 behaviour on Panasonic, Leica or Sigma bodies.

7Artisans’ 185° fisheye

The 7Artisans AF 10mm F2.5 MAX is a 185° full-frame fisheye featuring an f/2.5 maximum aperture, STM autofocus and 0.15m minimum focusing distance. It comes in Sony E, Nikon Z and L-Mount versions, although this particular release applies only to the latter.

7Artisans has previously issued firmware updates for other L-Mount autofocus lenses, with model-specific changes. The new V1.32 release concerns the AF 10mm F2.5 alone and should not be confused with those other firmware versions.

What we think

Autofocus is not always the first thing we think about with a 185° fisheye. But once you bring a subject right up towards the hood or try to keep a moving subject sharp in the centre of the frame, the reliability of AF suddenly matters a great deal.

That makes V1.32 a useful update for L-Mount owners. A broad promise of “improved AF” is not a reason to expect miracles, but it is worth comparing how the lens behaves before and after the update, particularly for close-ups and continuous focusing. A more detailed changelog from 7Artisans would make the practical benefits much clearer.

Frequently asked questions

Does firmware V1.32 also apply to Sony E or Nikon Z?

No. This announcement and its download are specifically for the L-Mount version of the AF 10mm F2.5 MAX.

How is the lens updated?

The AF 10mm F2.5 MAX has a USB-C port. Download the L-Mount file from the official 7Artisans support page and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
