Warner Bros. has released the final trailer for Dune: Part Three, putting Chani and Paul Atreides on a collision course as Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy nears its conclusion.

Arriving ahead of the film’s international theatrical rollout beginning December 16, 2026, the final preview shifts the emphasis to the consequences of power. Villeneuve closes his trilogy in Frank Herbert’s universe, drawing on Dune Messiah.

Chani at the heart of the final trailer

The image accompanying the official video shows Zendaya’s Chani in tears as she embraces someone. Rather than showcasing another display of the Emperor’s military might, the promotional frame focuses on a face and an intimate moment. That choice fits the central conflict outlined in the film’s official synopsis.

Nearly two decades after taking control of the Imperium, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) has become a ruthless Emperor. Former alliances, emerging threats and a conspiracy put his rule under pressure. Visions of the Empire’s collapse and the reappearance of Chani take the consequences of his reign beyond the battlefield and into his closest relationships.

Their relationship was already central to the earlier trailer featuring Paul and Chani. The final promotional push places even greater emphasis on the idea that Paul’s conquest is not simply a victory, but a burden carried by those around him.

Familiar faces and new dangers

Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Jason Momoa and Anya Taylor-Joy return, while Robert Pattinson, Charlotte Rampling and Isaach de Bankolé are also among the cast. Pattinson brings another important figure into the conflict surrounding the Emperor, although the final trailer is not trying to explain every turn of the conspiracy.

Villeneuve co-wrote the screenplay with Brian K. Vaughan. Linus Sandgren is the director of photography, Patrice Vermette the production designer, Joe Walker the editor and Hans Zimmer the composer. The cinematography change highlighted around the first teaser is of particular interest to viewers who follow the trilogy’s distinctive visual approach.

Dune: Part Three opens in theaters and IMAX across North America on December 18 and internationally beginning December 16, 2026, according to the distribution announcement.

What we think

It says something about this final promotional push that a tearful Chani is given such prominence. Dune already has enormous scale, expansive worlds and armies that can fill the screen. Here, a personal fracture draws the eye instead: what is left between two people when one of them has become the Emperor?

For those of us who care about moving images, that is the most effective part of this campaign. A close-up can carry more drama than another wide shot of a battle, provided the film gives its characters the same room to breathe. With Sandgren behind the camera, there is also a compelling reason to watch how light, faces and spectacle work together in this final chapter.
