Apple is bringing M6 to the iMac, refreshing its colorful all-in-one desktop for people who want a clean workspace for photography, video and design.

The launch images show the familiar thin display, integrated stand and a palette of bright finishes. The bigger change is inside: the range moves from M4 to the newer M6 while retaining the iMac’s recognizable all-in-one identity.

The new machine follows the familiar 24-inch iMac formula: the computer and display are combined in a single device, with no separate tower beneath the desk. The 4.5K Retina display is the reference point of this lineup, although the complete M6-specific display specifications still need confirmation from an updated Apple technical listing.

Apple has already introduced the M6 in the Mac mini family. For working creators, the relevant question goes beyond the chip generation: the amount of unified memory, SSD throughput and sustained performance all shape what a system can handle in a real editing workflow.

Colors, connectivity and everyday work

The official images show green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver models. Apple is keeping the iMac’s colorful personality and the appeal of a system that fits into a home, studio or office without a complicated setup.

A rear-view image shows four connection openings. Buyers should verify the actual Thunderbolt capabilities of their chosen configuration and the supported simultaneous peripherals, especially if they use external SSDs, capture devices or reference displays.

The update is part of a broader period of change for Apple desktops and notebooks: the expected MacBook Pro and M6-series announcements also highlight the distinction between a silicon upgrade and a change in the overall user experience.

Price and availability

The material available for verification did not establish a final Greek price or a confirmed local release date for the M6 iMac. Configuration and market availability should be checked directly on Apple’s product page once the new-model details are published.

What we think

The iMac has a simple advantage: place the computer on a desk, connect only a few things and start working. For someone selecting and editing photographs, producing design work or cutting shorter videos in a fixed workspace, that simplicity matters. Its colors also make it feel less like yet another anonymous black box.

But for serious editing, we would not choose a configuration just because it says M6. Available RAM matters enormously with big RAW files, layered documents and demanding timelines, especially when planning to keep a Mac for years. Fast external storage options and whether the built-in screen suits your workflow matter just as much.

The useful comparison is against the M4 iMac it replaces, with similar memory configurations and identical applications. If there are measurable gains in exports, previews or heavy compositing, we want to see them in independent testing. People who are already comfortable on an M4 do not automatically need to upgrade.
