Hasselblad and Capture One have announced a partnership that brings native Hasselblad RAW support to Capture One.

The announcement was made on July 2, 2026, and introduces the ability to import, organize and edit Hasselblad RAW files, with the .3FR extension, directly inside Capture One. Support starts with three 100-megapixel models: the Hasselblad X2D II 100C, X2D 100C and CFV 100C digital back.

The move matters because photographers using Hasselblad systems will no longer need to rely on conversions and workarounds in order to edit their files in Capture One. This means a more direct workflow, better use of Capture One’s editing tools and less risk of losing quality or editing flexibility during the process.

Native RAW support for Hasselblad

The new support allows users to open Hasselblad RAW files directly in Capture One, without an intermediate conversion step.

Photographers can now use Capture One’s tools for layers, masks, color editing and precise image adjustments on .3FR files from the supported models.

According to the announcement, native Hasselblad support has been one of the most requested additions from the Capture One community for years.

Supported models

Initial support is available for three Hasselblad 100-megapixel systems:

Hasselblad X2D II 100C
Hasselblad X2D 100C
Hasselblad CFV 100C digital back

Support is available in Capture One from version 16.8.3 and in Capture One Mobile from version 3.3.4.

Dedicated color and lens profiles

The integration is not generic, but designed specifically for the supported Hasselblad models.

Dedicated color profiles have been created for each model, aiming to deliver accurate color rendering inside Capture One. At the same time, dedicated lens profiles for Hasselblad XCD lenses correct distortion, chromatic aberration and light falloff.

This is especially important for photographers working in environments where color consistency and precision are critical, such as commercial photography, fashion, still life and fine art production.

Tethered capture coming later in 2026

At launch, the partnership covers native RAW file processing.

Tethered capture support, which allows a Hasselblad camera to connect directly to Capture One for live on-set shooting, is planned to follow later in 2026.

This addition will be important for studio workflows, where Capture One is often used for instant preview, selection and collaboration with clients or production teams.

What we think

The Hasselblad and Capture One partnership is a move that took time, but brings real value for professional photographers. Native .3FR support removes an unnecessary obstacle from the workflow and makes Capture One more attractive for those working with Hasselblad medium format systems. The next major step will be tethered capture, which will determine how complete the experience becomes for studio use.
