Lowepro has introduced the Fastpack IV collection, combining quick side access to the camera, a new rear opening and three different backpack sizes.

The new generation includes the Fastpack BP 150 AW IV, BP 250 AW IV and BP 450 AW IV, offering capacities of 16, 22 and 28 liters, respectively. The backpacks are aimed at photographers, videographers and content creators who need one solution for shooting, work, everyday commuting and travel.

The most significant change is the combination of the familiar quick side access with a redesigned full rear-panel opening. Users can either retrieve their camera immediately without fully removing the backpack or open the entire interior for easier packing and equipment organization.

Quick access without removing the backpack

The Fastpack range retains the side opening for the camera compartment. A photographer can slide one strap off the shoulder, rotate the backpack toward the front and reach the camera without placing the bag on the ground.

At the same time, the full rear opening provides a clearer view of the contents and makes it easier to arrange or reorganize equipment. The dual-compartment layout keeps the camera and lenses separate from personal belongings and everyday accessories.

Conversion into an everyday backpack

The interior can be reconfigured, allowing the Fastpack IV to function as a conventional daypack when no camera equipment is being carried. A collapsible divider separates personal items from the camera kit and can be moved aside to make use of the backpack’s full capacity.

Dedicated organizer pockets and solutions for securing the zippers are also included. Lowepro says the design reflects the current needs of creators who frequently use the same bag for shooting, work and travel.

The three models in the lineup

The Fastpack BP 150 AW IV is the smallest and lightest model, with a total capacity of 16 liters. It can accommodate a mirrorless camera, up to three lenses and a laptop measuring up to 14 inches. Lowepro primarily positions it for lighter kits, everyday use and shorter journeys.

The Fastpack BP 250 AW IV offers a capacity of 22 liters and is designed for a medium-sized camera system. It can carry a mirrorless camera with three to four lenses, as well as a laptop measuring up to 16 inches.

The Fastpack BP 450 AW IV is the largest model, with a capacity of 28 liters. It is intended for more comprehensive kits and can accommodate a full-frame mirrorless camera with a grip and four to five lenses, or two camera bodies with three to four lenses. It also includes a sleeve for laptops up to 16 inches.

The company’s example configurations show lenses such as 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8 zooms alongside prime lenses. Carrying a larger telephoto lens will depend on the arrangement of the internal dividers and the actual dimensions of the equipment.

Materials and weather protection

The new backpacks use durable coated fabric, including recycled materials, with the aim of improving resistance to everyday use and changing weather conditions.

An All Weather AW Cover is included to help protect the equipment from rain, snow, sand and dust. The larger models feature two stretch side pockets for items such as a water bottle and compact travel tripod, while the BP 150 AW IV has one corresponding side pocket.

Pricing and availability

The Lowepro Fastpack BP 150 AW IV is priced at $139.95 in the United States. The BP 250 AW IV costs $169.95, while the larger BP 450 AW IV is priced at $189.95.

All three models were introduced exclusively in black. Pricing and availability may differ depending on the market and authorized retailer.

What we think

Retaining the side access is a sensible decision, as it remains one of the Fastpack series’ most practical features. The new full rear opening addresses a different issue by offering a clearer overview and easier organization of the equipment.

The three capacities cover everything from a compact mirrorless kit to a more comprehensive professional system. Real-world ergonomics, comfort under a full load and the long-term durability of the updated materials can only be assessed properly after extended use.
