Luminar Neo 1.27.1 is now available with a new Lightroom Migration feature in Beta.

The latest version of Skylum’s photo editing software introduces the ability to migrate Lightroom Classic libraries into Luminar Neo, allowing users to bring over their existing photo archives without rebuilding everything from scratch.

The addition is particularly important for photographers considering a workflow change, while the company also expands camera support and improves overall application stability.

Lightroom Migration in Beta

The main addition in version 1.27.1 is Lightroom Migration (Beta).

The feature allows users to import an existing Lightroom Classic catalog into Luminar Neo while preserving photos, folders, albums, ratings, and basic edits.

According to Skylum, the process requires only a few steps and does not affect the original Lightroom catalog, which remains unchanged. Users can start the migration through File → Catalog → Import Lightroom Catalog.

Because the feature is still in Beta, the company encourages users to provide feedback to help improve the experience.

New Camera Support

The update adds support for two new Ricoh cameras:

  • Ricoh GR IV
  • Ricoh GR IV Monochrome

Users of these cameras can now edit their files directly in Luminar Neo.

Performance and Stability Improvements

Skylum says the release includes multiple fixes and refinements aimed at delivering a smoother and more reliable editing experience.

Improvements include catalog stability during large folder imports, preview generation, memory management, and tools such as Shine Removal, Superselect, and Supersharp AI.

The company also addressed issues related to multi-GPU systems, multi-file printing, color profile conflicts, and HEIC compatibility for Hasselblad cameras.

Fixes for macOS

On macOS, catalog stability during large imports has been improved, application launching from the Dock after minimizing now works correctly, gallery layouts display properly, and preview generation has been refined.

Issues related to deleted folders, Shine Removal, and Hasselblad HEIC support have also been addressed.

Fixes for Windows

The Windows version now allows .lnpc preset collections to be added directly through File Explorer.

Additional fixes address Vulkan initialization on dual-GPU systems, memory usage during folder navigation, and the behavior of Superselect and Supersharp AI.

The company also fixed issues involving browser tabs, multi-file print cancellation, and color profile conflicts that could make the application unresponsive.

What We Think

Lightroom Migration is one of Skylum’s most important additions in recent years because it significantly lowers the barrier for Lightroom Classic users considering a move to Luminar Neo. If the feature matures successfully after the Beta phase, it could become a strong incentive for photographers to try the platform.
