Wandrd has introduced a new camera strap system that allows photographers to switch quickly from a wrist strap to a neck strap using just one hand.
The Wandrd Magnetic Camera Straps use dedicated connectors that remain attached to the camera and work with a magnetically aligned locking mechanism. This allows users to change straps, use the same strap with different camera bodies or remove it before mounting the camera on a tripod.
The system’s main advantage is its speed and ease of use. Photographers often need to change how they carry a camera depending on the situation, but conventional attachment points may require more time or the use of both hands.
How the Magnetic CoreLock works
Although the system uses magnets, they are not responsible for supporting the camera’s weight.
The magnet guides the Torus Link connector into the correct position inside the Magnetic CoreLock mechanism. A spring-loaded lock then closes around the connector and tightens when weight is applied.
Disconnecting the strap requires a specific pinching action on both sides of the mechanism. According to Wandrd, this design allows the strap to be attached and removed with one hand while reducing the risk of accidental release.

Materials designed to protect the camera
The connectors are not made from metal, as the company wanted to reduce the possibility of scratches on the camera body.
Wandrd selected fiberglass-reinforced nylon, which is presented as both durable and gentler on photographic equipment. The main strap uses a particularly smooth material described by the company as “liquid nylon.”
Three different versions
The range includes a 30mm-wide strap for larger camera systems, a narrower 15mm strap for smaller cameras and a wrist strap.
Both neck straps can be worn traditionally or across the body. An additional loop also allows them to work with compact cameras that have only one strap attachment point.
A quick-adjustment mechanism controls the strap length. Each neck strap includes four connectors, allowing it to be used with two camera bodies, while the wrist strap comes with two connectors.

A visible wear indicator
The connectors contain colored internal fibers that provide a visual indication of wear.
When the black outer material wears down and the yellow layer becomes visible, the user should plan to replace the connector. A visible red layer indicates that wear has reached a dangerous level.
Pricing and availability
The standard neck strap is expected to retail for $69, while the narrower model will cost $49 and the wrist strap $39.
The company also plans to offer a $29 conversion kit for existing straps and a $157 bundle containing all three models. The initial launch is taking place through Kickstarter and Wandrd, with wider retail availability expected on November 7, 2026. International pricing has not yet been announced.
What we think
Wandrd’s proposal does not fundamentally reinvent the detachable camera strap, but it adds a practical alignment mechanism that could make frequent strap changes noticeably faster. The most important factors will be the CoreLock system’s reliability in real-world conditions and the durability of the connectors after extended use.
Frequently asked questions
Do the magnets support the camera’s weight?
No. The magnets align the connector, while the spring-loaded locking mechanism supports the camera’s weight.
Can the strap be removed with one hand?
Wandrd says that both attaching and disconnecting the strap can be completed with one hand.
Can one strap be used with multiple cameras?
Yes. The neck straps include four connectors, allowing the same strap to be used with two camera bodies.
Is there a way to monitor connector wear?
Yes. The connectors contain yellow and red internal indicators that become visible as the outer material wears down.
When will the straps become available?
The initial release is taking place through Kickstarter, while the retail launch is expected on November 7, 2026.
