Greek short film producers can apply for Euro Connection 2027 at Clermont-Ferrand, with the Greek submission deadline set for October 12, 2026.

EKKOMED has published the Greek call for participation in Euro Connection 2027, the European short film co-production forum taking place on February 2 and 3, 2027, as part of the Short Film Market of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France.

The significance of the call is that it does not target completed films simply looking for a festival screening. Euro Connection is aimed at projects still in development that need international co-producers, financiers and other professional partners to move towards production.

Which projects are eligible

According to EKKOMED’s official call, applications are submitted by the producers of candidate projects. The planned film must have a maximum running time of 30 minutes, must already have demonstrable partial financing and must be intended for production as a European or international co-production.

In addition, filming must not be scheduled before June 2027. The international call covers fiction, animation and creative documentary projects, meaning that the programme is not limited to a single form of filmmaking.

A particularly important requirement is the existence of already secured external funding. This means that Euro Connection is intended for projects that have moved beyond the initial idea stage and can provide concrete evidence that their production structure is already beginning to take shape.

The Greek deadline is October 12

For Greek entries, the deadline is October 12, 2026. Applications are submitted to [email protected], for the attention of EKKOMED’s Development and Production Directorate, in accordance with the documents and specifications required by the official application package.

The date deserves particular attention because national deadlines in several other European countries have been set for October 20, 2026. Euro Connection operates through a network of national correspondents, with applicants submitting projects through the relevant partner in their own country. Greek producers therefore need to follow the earlier deadline announced by EKKOMED.

What Euro Connection offers filmmakers

Euro Connection is a pitching and networking forum rather than a conventional film competition. The filmmakers and producers whose projects advance through the process gain access to script and pitching preparation before presenting their projects to professionals from the European film market.

Participants in Clermont-Ferrand include producers, potential co-producers, broadcasters, distributors, financiers and other professionals looking for projects and partnerships. The programme includes pitching sessions, organised networking and professional meetings designed to give selected productions a realistic opportunity to establish international co-productions.

The 19th edition will take place on February 2 and 3, 2027, with the support of Creative Europe MEDIA and PROCIREP.

A forum with a measurable track record

Euro Connection has already established a significant track record in the European short film sector. According to figures published by partner organisations, projects presented in previous editions have resulted in 147 completed films, including 78 international co-productions.

This is also what distinguishes the forum from a simple pitching event. Its value lies in giving an already developed project an opportunity to secure production partnerships, additional financing and access to an international professional network.

What it means for Greek producers

For a Greek short film production that already has part of its financing in place but needs a foreign co-producer or another international partner, Euro Connection provides a highly targeted route into the European market.

It is not, by contrast, intended for a film that has already been shot or for a project that remains only an idea with no demonstrable financing. The eligibility requirements are designed for projects at a specific stage of development that can immediately benefit from the contacts available at an international co-production market.

What we think

Euro Connection is particularly relevant to Greek short film production because it offers more than international exposure: it creates a structured environment in which a mature project can develop into a genuine European co-production. The requirement for already secured partial financing naturally narrows the field of eligible candidates, but at the same time increases the practical value of the process for producers whose projects have reached the appropriate stage of development.
