The vivo X500 Pro Max has arrived in Europe with a 200MP ZEISS telephoto camera and an optional 400mm optical extender, but the top configuration reaches €2,199.
On October 27, 2026, vivo introduced the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max to Europe at a launch event in Tenerife. Pre-orders opened that day, while the European online store lists November 5 as the general sales date. Availability varies by market, and an official Greek launch has not been confirmed for either model.
The camera had already attracted attention following the initial reveal of its 200MP ZEISS telephoto system and 400mm extender. With European configurations, prices and accessories now announced, the more useful question is what this photography setup actually costs.
vivo X500 Pro Max: a 200MP telephoto and the price of 400mm
The X500 Pro Max features a 200MP ZEISS APO periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, an 85mm-equivalent focal length, f/2.67 aperture and optical stabilisation. Alongside it are a 50MP 24mm-equivalent main camera (f/1.57) and a 50MP 15mm-equivalent ultrawide (f/2.0). Vivo specifies autofocus tracking at up to 60fps and a 15cm close-focusing distance with the telephoto camera.
For more reach, there is the external ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, offering a 400mm-equivalent field of view and sold separately for €459 in the Austrian/German price list. A smaller 200mm extender costs €299. These are accessory prices, rather than additional built-in optical zoom ranges.
The Photography Grip Kit adds a physical shutter button, zoom control and an additional integrated battery. The announced reference price for the grip is €199, although selected launch offers include it at no extra cost. For photographers shooting sport, concerts or wildlife, the kit’s weight and overall price matter just as much as its reach.

The smaller X500 Pro and what changes
The X500 Pro also has an 85mm-equivalent ZEISS APO telephoto camera, but with a 64MP sensor in the 1/2-inch format. It supports the 200mm extender; the larger 400mm accessory is not listed as an official option for this model. Its display measures 6.36 inches, compared with the Pro Max’s 6.85 inches.
Both models use the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, OriginOS 7, a 50MP ZEISS TrueDynamic main camera and European configurations with 12GB of RAM. In Europe the Pro Max comes with 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage, while the X500 Pro shown in the official price list has 256GB. The European battery capacities are 6,750mAh for the Pro Max and 6,510mAh for the Pro.

4K/240fps, Log and tools for video creators
For video, vivo lists recording at up to 4K/240fps for slow motion, cinematic Pro Log and up to 17EV of dynamic range in the main camera’s Log mode. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent laboratory results. Shooting at 240fps enables 10× slow motion on a 24fps timeline, although grading latitude also depends on the codec, bitrate and restrictions of the selected mode.
For live subjects, the company offers automatic tracking and reframing for concert videos, 4K/60fps telephoto recording and a dual-view shooting mode. The Pro Max also features four microphones with directional audio capture, according to vivo. For a working creator, these details are more meaningful than megapixel counts alone.
European prices, launch offers and Greek availability
In vivo’s official German and Austrian pricing, the announced device prices are:
| Model / storage | Price |
|---|---|
| X500 Pro — 12GB / 256GB | €1,399 |
| X500 Pro Max — 12GB / 256GB | €1,599 |
| X500 Pro Max — 12GB / 512GB | €1,799 |

Vivo’s official Spanish store currently lists different launch discounts: €1,299 for the 256GB Pro, €1,499 for the 256GB Pro Max and €1,599 for the 512GB Pro Max. Its 1TB Pro Max listing is a €2,199 bundle. These are country-specific offers, not uniform prices across Europe.
Vivo lists a €120 registration voucher for people who signed up before pre-orders, falling to €80 during the subsequent period through November 30, subject to market-specific terms. Selected launch offers bundle a free camera grip with the Pro Max or vivo Headphones Studio with the Pro. No official Greek price, local sales channel or release date has been confirmed.
What we think
The 200MP telephoto camera and external optical extender are among the most compelling parts of the X500 Pro Max. For concerts or subjects you cannot approach, having a 400mm-equivalent view on a phone is an attractive proposition. Add the extender and grip, though, and you are effectively holding a compact camera system, with its own compromises in size and handling.
European pricing changes the comparison, too. A 256GB Pro Max paired with the 400mm extender exceeds €2,000 before any extra discounts. At that level, wildlife photographers will understandably compare it with a dedicated camera and telephoto lens. On the other hand, always having the same device with you, together with a flexible video workflow, is a genuine benefit for travel and quick assignments.
We like that vivo is taking telephoto optics and physical controls seriously rather than relying solely on increasingly aggressive computational zoom. In a hands-on test, we would want RAW samples at 85mm and 400mm, autofocus tracking on moving subjects and an assessment of 4K/240fps over longer recordings. Those practical results would tell us whether this expensive kit deserves a place in a working camera bag.
