The Arta Photography Group “FotoArt” will present its annual group exhibition “Emerging Narratives” from September 26 to October 2, 2026, alongside part of Ypatia Kornarou’s photographic series “Rare”.
The event will be hosted at the “Giannis Moralis” Municipal Gallery of Arta, with the opening scheduled for Saturday, September 26 at 19:00 and free admission for the public.
This year’s presentation is particularly interesting because it brings together the different personal photographic explorations of seven FotoArt members with an established social and human-centred body of work: “Rare”, which emerged from Ypatia Kornarou’s collaboration with the “95” Association – Greek Alliance for Rare Patients.
“Emerging Narratives”
The annual FotoArt exhibition features Katia Vasilaki, Pavlos Karezοs, Nikos Kasselouris, Konstantinos Mantialias, Christos Panou, Katerina Papadimitriou and Katerina Satou.
The exhibition is artistically curated by photographer and group instructor Ypatia Kornarou. Her curatorial approach treats the individual works not as a simple collection of images, but as parts of a broader visual narrative in which different artistic identities can coexist.
The title “Emerging Narratives” itself points to personal stories and emotional landscapes that are not necessarily revealed immediately. According to the curatorial concept, photography is used as a means of introspection and as a starting point for dialogue between individual experience and what can ultimately become shared experience.
“Rare” brings a different dimension to the exhibition
Alongside the work of FotoArt members, part of Ypatia Kornarou’s “Rare” series will also be presented. The project was created in collaboration with the “95” Association and seeks to approach life with a rare disease beyond its purely medical dimension, focusing on people, their relationships, family and everyday experience.
“Rare” had previously been presented in 2026 at the first Rare Diseases Festival “Every Day Rare”, held from February 26 to March 1 at the City of Athens Art Centre. Visitors had the opportunity to see the exhibition, attend guided tours and discover the accompanying photographic book.
In an earlier PTTL interview about “Rare”, Kornarou explained that her aim was to establish a sense of closeness to the stories of the people she photographed and to move away from stereotypical or detached representations of disease. The project combines a documentary approach with conceptual elements and develops each personal story through more than a single image.
Why the two exhibitions work together
The two presentations begin from different starting points but meet through the idea of narrative.
In “Emerging Narratives”, seven creators transform their individual photographic explorations into a shared exhibition. In “Rare”, the narrative grows out of real human stories and the relationship between photographer and subject.
Visitors are therefore not simply being invited to view different photographic works in the same space. The exhibition offers two parallel ways of reading photography: as a field of personal artistic expression and as a medium capable of bringing often unseen experiences into public view.

The exhibition will remain open through Friday, October 2, 2026. Opening hours are 09:00–13:00 and 18:00–21:00, with the gallery closed on Sunday. Admission is free.
