Nextorage is bringing its professional NX-F2AE SDXC memory cards to the US, offering capacities up to 1TB, V90 certification and maximum transfer speeds of 300 MB/s for demanding video production.

The series originally went on sale in Japan on August 5, 2026. The latest development is its US availability, where the 1TB version is priced at $999.99.

V90 and 300 MB/s: What those numbers mean

The NX-F2AE cards use a UHS-II interface and 3D TLC NAND flash memory. Nextorage claims maximum read and write speeds of 300 MB/s. These are peak figures measured under the company’s test conditions, rather than speeds guaranteed in every camera or card reader.

For video recording, the more important rating is V90, which certifies a minimum sustained write speed of 90 MB/s (720 Mb/s). Consistent performance matters in high-bitrate recording more than a brief peak-speed result. It does not, however, mean that every camera’s 8K or RAW recording mode will work: the specific codec requirements and the recording media supported by the camera manufacturer still determine compatibility.

Reaching full transfer performance also requires a UHS-II-compatible host. In a UHS-I slot, the card is limited by the slower interface. Checking camera-specific SD card compatibility lists is just as important: approved media vary by manufacturer and camera model, and no general SD rating guarantees universal support.

Three capacities and a dual-slot reader

All three capacities carry the same quoted speed limits and V90 rating. The 1TB option offers more headroom for extended shoots or high-bitrate recording without changing cards as often. Splitting a shoot across multiple smaller cards, on the other hand, can limit the amount of material exposed if one card fails.

For offloading, Nextorage recommends the NX-DF1CL, a dual-slot UHS-II SD card reader with USB 10Gbps connectivity. It supports simultaneous transfers from two cards and features a separate write-protection switch for each slot, a practical safeguard when ingesting original footage on set.

Durability for production environments

Nextorage lists seven durability tests: operating temperatures from −25°C to 85°C, 1.5-meter drop testing, 10 N bending resistance, more than 10,000 card insertion/removal cycles, plus testing against X-rays, magnetic fields and electrostatic discharge. Those laboratory results do not guarantee that files can never be lost through failure or misuse.

A media case is included, and the cards carry a five-year manufacturer warranty. For professional assignments, backing up the material as soon as it has been transferred remains essential.

Pricing and availability

The NX-F2AE series has been available in Japan since August 2026 and is now sold in the US. Announced US prices are $299.99 for 256GB, $529.99 for 512GB and $999.99 for 1TB. No official European price was found.

What we think

A 1TB V90 SD card solves a very specific problem on a shoot: more recording room while retaining the sustained write-speed class many professional formats require. If your camera records at bitrates within V90’s capabilities, a larger card can spare you a media change midway through an interview, an event or a demanding take.

But nearly $1,000 is a serious amount to spend on a single SD card. For a production, I would weigh that convenience against buying two or three smaller cards. Long uninterrupted recording has real value, but keeping an entire shoot off one piece of media can be just as important.

The deciding factor should not be the “8K” in the marketing. It should be what your actual camera records, whether the card is on its tested-media list, and how quickly you can offload and protect the files once the shoot is over.
