Sony has announced the RX10 V, the fifth generation of its all-in-one RX10 super zoom series, featuring a 24-600mm lens, AI autofocus and 4K 120p video.

The new Sony RX10 V was officially introduced as a premium bridge camera for everyday shooting, wildlife and sports, keeping the built-in ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24-600mm f/2.4-4.0 lens with optical image stabilization and the 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with approximately 20.1 effective megapixels.

The announcement is important because the RX10 IV had remained a benchmark in the bridge camera category for years, while the new RX10 V brings a modern processor, AI-powered Real-time Recognition AF, faster shooting, better battery life and major video upgrades.

All-in-one 24-600mm lens

The RX10 V is built around the familiar built-in ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24-600mm lens, in full-frame equivalent terms, with 25x optical zoom and an f/2.4-4.0 aperture.

The lens covers everything from wide-angle to super-telephoto, allowing users to shoot landscapes, travel, family moments, wildlife and sports without changing lenses.

According to Sony, the camera also supports close-up shooting from approximately 3cm at 24mm, as well as tele-macro shooting from approximately 72cm at 600mm.

AI autofocus and 30fps speed

The biggest upgrade in the RX10 V is its autofocus system. The camera features BIONZ XR and an AI Processing Unit that powers Real-time Recognition AF.

The system can recognize humans, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains and airplanes, while also offering an Auto mode that automatically identifies the subject type.

The AI unit also supports human pose estimation, allowing the camera to recognize and track people even when their backs are turned or when their faces are obscured by helmets or sunglasses.

Continuous shooting reaches up to 30 frames per second with the electronic shutter, blackout-free viewing and full AF/AE tracking. The camera performs up to 60 AF/AE calculations per second, which is crucial for fast and unpredictable subjects.

Video with 4K 120p and modern tools

The Sony RX10 V also brings a major video upgrade, with support for 4K 120p recording. This enables up to 5x slow-motion playback in 4K resolution, with a slightly narrower angle of view.

The camera includes Active Mode stabilization for steadier handheld video, a Multi Interface Shoe with digital audio interface support, S-Cinetone, S-Log3 and the ability to import up to 16 user LUTs for monitoring the final look while shooting in Log.

Auto Framing is also supported, using AI recognition to keep the subject properly framed in the center during video recording.

New ergonomics and improved EVF

The RX10 V follows the design philosophy of Sony’s newer Alpha mirrorless cameras, with an updated button layout, improved grip and a multi-selector for more direct operation.

The electronic viewfinder is now a 0.5-type Quad-VGA OLED panel with approximately 3.68 million dots and approximately 0.78x magnification. The 3.0-inch LCD monitor has also been upgraded to approximately 1.62 million dots.

Sony also mentions a dust and moisture resistant design, although the camera is not guaranteed to be fully dust or moisture proof in all conditions.

USB-C, 5GHz Wi-Fi and new battery

The RX10 V includes USB Type-C for faster and more stable data transfer, while also supporting 4K 30p live streaming.

The camera offers 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, as well as compatibility with Sony’s Creators’ App for file transfer, remote camera control and feature or software updates.

Another important change is the use of the NP-FZ100 battery. Battery life reaches approximately 630 still images using the LCD and approximately 570 images using the viewfinder, an improvement of more than 50% compared to the RX10 IV.

Price and availability

In Europe, the Sony RX10 V is available for pre-order from July 9, 2026, priced at €2,500. In the United Kingdom, the price is £2,200.

In the United States, according to PetaPixel, the RX10 V is priced at $2,299, with availability expected to begin in early August 2026.

What we think

The Sony RX10 V is a meaningful, but not revolutionary, upgrade to the RX10 series. Sony kept the proven 24-600mm lens and 1.0-type sensor, focusing instead on the areas where the RX10 IV had started to show its age: autofocus, speed, video, ergonomics and battery life. The price is high, but for photographers who want a truly all-in-one camera without changing lenses, the RX10 V remains one of the most complete options on the market.
