Sony will significantly increase prices for the FX3, FX30, FX6 and FR7 in Japan from September 1, 2026, with the largest adjustment reaching 19.1% for the FX3.
In Sony Japan’s official announcement, the company says it is revising manufacturer shipping prices and suggested retail prices for selected Cinema Line cameras and professional camcorders because of higher raw-material, manufacturing and logistics costs. The change takes effect on September 1, 2026, and Sony puts the average adjustment across the affected products at approximately 12%.
The development matters beyond a simple across-the-board price increase because the adjustments vary substantially between models. The FX3 rises by almost 20%, the FX6 and FR7 by roughly 12%-14%, while the FX30 remains below 8%. At the same time, the FX3’s new price substantially reduces its gap to the newer FX5 in Sony’s Japanese lineup.
New Sony FX3, FX30, FX6 and FR7 prices
Sony has also published a detailed list of the affected products and their new prices. Current pricing is additionally confirmed by Sony’s official Japanese pages for the FX3, FX30, FX6 and FR7.

| Sony FX30 with XLR handle | ¥352,000 | ¥374,000 | +¥22,000 | 6.3% |
| Sony FX30 body | ¥297,000 | ¥319,000 | +¥22,000 | 7.4% |
The different FX6, FR7 and FX30 versions refer to packages of the same cameras sold as a body, with a lens or with an XLR handle.
The Sony FX3 receives the largest increase
The largest percentage increase affects the Sony FX3, which moves from ¥581,900 to ¥693,000. The difference is ¥111,100, or approximately 19.1%.
That percentage is substantially higher than the average adjustment of approximately 12% reported by Sony for the overall revision, making the FX3 the clearest outlier in the new pricing.
PTTL previously covered the Sony FX3’s Greek pricing when it launched in 2021, when its official Greek list price was set at €4,890.
The FX3 is now much closer to the FX5
The increase becomes even more interesting when compared with the newer Sony FX5. Sony Japan currently lists the FX5 body at ¥812,900.
Before the revision, the difference between the FX3 and FX5 was ¥231,000. From September 1, that gap falls to ¥119,900.
In other words, the price difference between the two cameras is almost halved. That does not make them directly equivalent products, but it meaningfully changes the financial decision for buyers choosing within Sony’s Cinema Line in Japan.
Sony FX6 increases by more than 11%
The Sony FX6 body rises from ¥935,000 to ¥1,045,000, taking it above the one-million-yen mark with an increase of approximately 11.8%.
The version supplied with the FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS moves from ¥1,089,000 to ¥1,215,500, an increase of approximately 11.6%. Sony confirms that this package includes the 24-105mm F4 G OSS.
Sony FR7 sees the largest increase in yen
The FR7 without a lens rises from ¥1,430,000 to ¥1,622,500, an increase of approximately 13.5%.
The package with the FE PZ 28-135mm F4 G OSS rises from ¥1,727,000 to ¥1,972,300. The ¥245,300 difference is the largest nominal increase among the cameras on the list and corresponds to approximately 14.2%.
The FR7 primarily targets professional productions requiring remote PTZ operation, a full-frame sensor and interchangeable E-mount lenses, so the increase affects a distinctly different audience from the FX3 or FX30.
The FX30 receives the smallest increases
Changes are more limited for the Sony FX30. The version with the XLR handle rises from ¥352,000 to ¥374,000, while the body moves from ¥297,000 to ¥319,000.
The increase is ¥22,000 in both cases, corresponding to approximately 6.3% for the version with the XLR handle and 7.4% for the body.
The difference compared with the FX3’s increase is substantial and shows that Sony has not applied a uniform percentage adjustment across the Cinema Line.
Current situation in Greece
The announcement applies exclusively to Japan. So far, Sony has not announced that these specific increases will also be introduced in Greece or across the European market.
Sony Greece currently lists the Sony FX3 from €4,890, the FX30 from €2,379 for the body and €2,899 with the XLR handle, while the FX6 is listed from €6,820.
Interestingly, today’s indicative Greek price of €4,890 for the FX3 is nominally the same figure PTTL reported when the camera launched in Greece in 2021. This does not mean the price remained unchanged at every retailer or throughout the intervening period, but it provides a useful reference point for the Greek market.
Why Sony is raising prices
Sony links the decision to higher raw-material, manufacturing and logistics costs resulting from the current external economic environment.
The company does not attribute the change to a particular model or technical upgrade. This is a revision of manufacturer shipping prices and suggested retail prices for the Japanese market.
What we think
The Sony FX3’s 19.1% increase is the most significant part of the announcement, not only because it is the largest percentage adjustment but also because it dramatically reduces the price gap to the newer FX5 in Japan.
For Greek buyers, however, there is currently no reason to treat a similar increase as inevitable. Sony has announced changes only for Japan, while European pricing remains a separate matter.
