September 2026 is packed with camera phones, but the real calendar is smaller than viral roadmaps suggest: two dates have official invitations, two series have a confirmed month, and the rest remain leaks.

Huawei has scheduled the Mate XT 2 launch for 7 September and Apple an event for 9 September. HONOR and vivo confirm that Magic9 and X500 Series arrive during the month, but the exact date has not been documented in the same clear primary form for both.

Camera interest is high: HONOR has shown an official ARRI/200 MP teaser, vivo has disclosed a high-dynamic-range sensor and high-frame-rate 4K video, while Apple, OPPO and Xiaomi rumours describe major changes. The roadmap follows a simple rule: an official event does not confirm the product we expect, and a real prototype does not confirm a final specification.

1 September — POCO F9 Series: already official

POCO F9 Series opened the month with an official global launch on 1 September. Xiaomi’s event terms and European promotion pages confirm the series and date, so POCO no longer belongs to the future or rumoured part of the calendar.

F9 Pro and F9 Ultra were announced with 200 MP main cameras. Pro pairs that with a 50 MP telephoto camera at roughly 2.5x, while Ultra uses a 50 MP 5x periscope camera and a 50 MP ultrawide. European retail prices start at €899.99 for Pro and €1,099.99 for Ultra, with lower introductory prices in selected markets.

Its inclusion matters as a comparison point: 200 MP has moved from a theoretical leak to a shipping product, but quality still depends on sensor size, lens, OIS and processing. Local variants, prices and offers are listed on Xiaomi’s official launch page.

7 September — Huawei Mate XT 2: confirmed event

Huawei Terminal has officially announced the HarmonyOS 7 | HUAWEI Mate XT 2 and all-scenario products launch for 7 September at 2:30 p.m. China time, or 09:30 in Greece. The company has also opened reservations and shown the new tri-fold body.

For the camera, official material published by 2 September does not provide a full set of sensors, focal lengths or video modes. The existence of Mate XT 2 and the date are facts, but circulating camera specifications do not yet move into the confirmed column.

The photographic question is how Huawei will fit main, ultrawide and telephoto cameras into a body with two hinges without sacrificing thickness or stabilisation. The answer must wait for the launch.

9 September — Apple Event: the time is fact, the iPhones are not yet

Apple has confirmed the “Surprise and shine” event for 9 September at 10:00 a.m. PT, or 20:00 in Greece. The official invitation and Apple Events page do not name iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max or a foldable iPhone.

Rumours focus on a variable-aperture main camera, new stacked sensor architecture and a different layout for Apple’s first foldable. None of that is an official specification. PTTL has already collected the Greece time, viewing options and confirmed limits of the invitation, so this roadmap does not reproduce a second device-by-device leak.

The correct reading before the keynote is that the event is certain and the expected camera phones are probable, not confirmed. Final markets, preorder dates and prices become facts only on stage and on official product pages.

HONOR Magic9 Series — confirmed month, exact date still open

HONOR has opened an official Magic9 Series promotion and confirmed that the new family launches during September. A 28 September date circulates in reports attributed to company management, but as of the 2 September check no public HONOR event page locked it in.

The camera fact is more specific: an official teaser shows ARRI collaboration and the marking “200MP 1/1.4 OIS 1:2.6 ASPH”. That confirms one 200 MP module and the ARRI direction—not two 200 MP sensors, a Pro Max name or the complete arrangement.

PTTL has already explained which HONOR Magic9 elements are official and which belong to the dual-200 MP leak. The roadmap records only the status change: the series is real and coming in September, while most specifications remain open.

vivo X500 Series — September officially, without a specific day

vivo product manager Han Boxiao has confirmed that X500 Series launches in China during September, without specifying a day or international-market details. That is stronger confirmation than a leak, but it does not turn viral calendars into an official invitation.

In official technical disclosures, vivo describes a ZEISS Super Dynamic main system for the Pro models with a 1/1.28-type 50 MP sensor, up to 17 EV dynamic range, 4K HDR up to 120 fps and 4K slow motion up to 240 fps. It also claims up to three degrees of OIS movement and CIPA 7.0 stabilisation in a specific implementation. Those are manufacturer claims that require real testing.

The top model and its telephoto camera are already covered by PTTL in a separate report on vivo X500 Pro Max and its 200 MP ZEISS system. This roadmap does not create a second article around the same information; it records only that the family has an official September window.

Xiaomi 18 and Xiaomi 18 Fold — dates only from reports

A 5 September date circulates for Xiaomi 18 Fold, with different points later in the month suggested for Xiaomi 18 Series. The check found no official Xiaomi invitation, event page or product teaser confirming those dates.

Reports of a Leica camera system, a new in-house chip, sensor sizes or a folding-camera layout also remain leaks. Xiaomi 18 may be a plausible September candidate based on the company’s cycle, but this roadmap assigns neither a specific day nor specifications before a primary announcement.

Huawei Mate 90 — separate from the confirmed Mate XT 2

The 23 September date circulating for Huawei Mate 90 Series does not appear in Huawei’s official 7 September announcement. It is a different family and should not be folded automatically into the confirmed Mate XT 2 event.

There is no public official Mate 90 camera sheet. Claims about sensors, variable aperture or new XMAGE processing remain leaks until Huawei publishes an event or product page.

OPPO Find X10 — possible window, not an official 23 September

OPPO Find X10 Series appears in reports for a 23 September launch or a broader September window, but OPPO has not published an official date, full family structure or product page. The Pro Max name also comes from leaks.

The triple-200 MP claim is already analysed in PTTL’s existing OPPO Find X10 Pro Max article. The only confirmed technical foundation there is the existence of Samsung ISOCELL HPC—not its use in a specific OPPO or a launch date.

iQOO 16 — rumoured 25 September

25 September appears in unofficial Chinese schedules for iQOO 16 Series. No primary iQOO announcement was found fixing the date, models or markets.

iQOO remains primarily a performance brand, but reports of a new main sensor, telephoto camera or video capabilities have no official documentation. Until the company publishes a teaser, the model remains in the rumoured part of the roadmap.

The clean calendar worth keeping

With today’s information, the safe calendar is: POCO F9 already official on 1 September, Huawei Mate XT 2 on 7 September at 09:30 Greece time and Apple Event on 9 September at 20:00. HONOR Magic9 and vivo X500 belong to September without a confirmed exact day here.

Xiaomi 18/Fold, Huawei Mate 90, OPPO Find X10 and iQOO 16 remain on the watchlist. A new official teaser can change their status quickly, so every date and camera specification must be rechecked on the day of writing or launch.

What we think

Techtember is real as a commercial concentration, but not as one reliable calendar. For photographers, the useful progression is from teaser to full specification sheet and then to real files—not counting 200 MP before the camera is announced. On 2 September, only Huawei and Apple have clear next appointments; everything else requires a different degree of caution.
