Summary
Fujifilm today introduced the instax Pal 2, the second generation of its tiny digital camera, with doubled 10 MP resolution, an optical viewfinder, a new screen and more physical controls.
The Pal 2 remains a palm-sized digital camera without a built-in printer. Photos can be transferred to a smartphone or printed through compatible instax Link printers and instax Evo and LiPlay hybrid cameras.
Compared with the original 2023 instax Pal, the second generation moves closer to a conventional compact-camera experience with an optical viewfinder, a 1-inch top-mounted screen, a control dial and a function lever.
From 5 MP to 10 MP and double the internal storage
The Pal 2 uses a 1/3.06-inch sensor and records up to 10 megapixels, compared with 5 megapixels on the previous generation. Internal storage doubles from 50 to 100 photos and a microSD slot is included.
The 1-inch screen allows images to be reviewed immediately, while the optical viewfinder provides a more traditional way to frame a shot.
Four formats and 30 creative effects
Users can choose mini 3:4, SQUARE 1:1, WIDE 16:9 or No Frame 4:3. There are 30 effects across Modern, Y2K, Vintage, Chromatic and Fantasy themes.

instax Animation and USB-C transfer
instax Animation captures up to 10 consecutive images and combines them into a flipbook-style animation. A QR code can link an instax print to smartphone playback.
The Pal 2 supports Bluetooth 5.1, wireless transfer and direct USB Type-C connection to compatible smartphones. Fujifilm quotes speeds of up to approximately 0.7 seconds per image, depending on conditions.

What we think
The 10 MP sensor, viewfinder, screen and physical controls make the Pal 2 feel closer to a tiny standalone camera. At €169.99, however, it is positioned more as a lifestyle product than a budget compact.
