Event Details
Orange Shutter 2026 returns to Cinemarian on September 19 and 20 with work by 25 photographers, screenings of 12 short films and free admission.
Graduates of Andreas Katsikoudis’ beginner and advanced photography classes will present their photographs in a group exhibition that is not restricted to a specific theme or photographic genre. Orange Shutter 2026 will be hosted at Cinemarian in the Neos Kosmos district of Athens on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, with the exhibition open from 19:30 to 22:30.
That is precisely the event’s defining characteristic: participants are not asked to follow a shared theme but to present their own photographic point of view. Urban images and Greek landscapes appear alongside noir scenes, street photography, staged work, artistic nude, colour and black-and-white photographs, creating a collection that reflects different approaches to the photographic medium.
An exhibition that leaves room for personal vision
Orange Shutter does not attempt to bring all participating works under a single visual style. Instead, diversity is part of its identity.
Visitors will see everything from melancholic urban landscapes and images of Greek nature to claustrophobic noir compositions, street photography and staged photographs. The exhibition also includes artistic nude, black-and-white and colour images, as well as work ranging from direct observation to more complex and symbolic approaches.
The absence of a mandatory theme therefore places greater emphasis on the way each photographer chooses to observe, organise and ultimately present an image.

The exhibition is coordinated by Kostas Stabanis and curated by Andreas Katsikoudis. The poster photograph is by Je_on Papageorgiou, while the poster itself was created by Panagiotis Lampropoulos.
Opening night and Saturday’s programme
The exhibition officially opens on Saturday, September 19 at 20:00.
At 21:00, the evening continues on the rooftop of Cinemarian’s open-air cinema with screenings of films created as part of Andreas Katsikoudis’ filmmaking classes. Admission to the film programme is also free.
Before the screenings, Andreas Katsikoudis will give a short introduction about how the films were created and the possibilities available today for making a film even with limited resources.
After the screenings, at approximately 22:15, attendance certificates will be presented to participants from the previous year’s photography and filmmaking classes.

Sunday with a slideshow and DIAFRAGMA 26 activities
The programme continues on Sunday, September 20.
At 20:00 there will be a party and a slideshow featuring photographs from DIAFRAGMA 26 activities, including excursions, photography walks, exhibitions and social initiatives.
DIAFRAGMA 26 is an Athens-based photography group coordinated by Andreas Katsikoudis. It is based at Cinemarian and organises exhibitions, photographer presentations, photography outings, talks and film screenings related to photography.
The second evening therefore works not only as a continuation of the exhibition but also as a glimpse into the activities developed around the group throughout the year.
Andreas Katsikoudis and the exhibition’s curation
Orange Shutter 2026 is curated by Andreas Katsikoudis, who is in his 22nd year of teaching photography and his 15th year of teaching filmmaking, while also teaching art history. He is the founder of the DIAFRAGMA 26 photography group and has organised and curated photography exhibitions and art festivals.
The combination of photography and filmmaking in this year’s programme also grows naturally out of this dual educational activity: the photographs come from the photography classes, while Saturday night’s films were produced through filmmaking classes at Cinemarian.
Orange Shutter has been hosted at Cinemarian before
The event already has a history at the same venue. PTTL also covered Orange Shutter 2024, when 26 photographers from beginner and advanced classes presented their work at Cinemarian. That edition also combined a photography exhibition with film screenings.
The 2026 edition follows the same general approach, this time with 25 participating photographers and a detailed programme of 12 film productions.
