Xiaomi has officially introduced the Xiaomi 18 Fold, a differently proportioned foldable with a 7.58-inch inner display, a 200MP Leica camera, the new XRING O3 and a 6,000mAh battery.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold was announced in China on September 7, 2026 and went on general sale on September 10, with a starting price of 10,999 yuan. Xiaomi places it in a new category it calls “mid-fold,” using wider proportions than conventional book-style foldables while keeping its weight at 219 grams.
The importance of the device goes beyond its different design. It is one of Xiaomi’s most technically significant products of 2026, combining the company’s new in-house XRING O3, cameras developed with Leica and an unusually large battery for such a thin foldable body.
Two displays with a different foldable philosophy
The outer display measures 5.38 inches with a resolution of 1168 × 1712 pixels, while opening the device reveals a 7.58-inch foldable display with a resolution of 2364 × 1672 pixels.
Both displays use LTPO technology with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, while Xiaomi quotes peak brightness of up to 4,000 nits under specified measurement conditions.
The main point of interest is the aspect ratio. Instead of combining a very narrow cover display with an almost square tablet when unfolded, Xiaomi has selected proportions close to √2:1 on both displays. As a result, the phone resembles a small book or passport when closed and provides a wider workspace when opened.
It measures 117.8 × 83.6 × 10.68mm when folded and 117.8 × 163.8 × 5.02mm when unfolded. Weight is 219 grams.

Leica system with a 200MP main camera
The imaging system is one of the areas where Xiaomi is attempting to differentiate the 18 Fold from several other foldable phones.
The main Leica camera uses a 200MP, 1/1.56-inch sensor with optical image stabilization. It is joined by a 50MP Leica periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom and a 50MP Leica ultra-wide camera.
According to the published specifications, the telephoto supports 7x lossless zoom through a combination of optics and computational processing, while Xiaomi also uses computational techniques for higher magnification. Actual imaging performance, however, will need to be judged through independent testing rather than resolution figures alone.
| Camera | Sensor | Resolution | Sensor size | Pixel size | Lens / focal length | Aperture | OIS | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Main | Samsung ISOCELL HP5 | 200 MP | 1/1.56″ | 0.5 μm | Leica Summilux, 23mm eq., 1G+6P | f/1.7 | Yes | Pixel binning down to 12.5 MP, laser AF |
| Periscope telephoto | Samsung ISOCELL JN5 | 50 MP | 1/2.75″–1/2.76″ | 0.64 μm | 80mm eq. | f/2.8 | Yes | 3.5x optical zoom, up to 7x / 160mm via in-sensor crop |

XRING O3: Xiaomi’s new chip enters a foldable
Inside is the XRING O3, Xiaomi’s new SoC manufactured on a 3nm process.
The chip uses a 10-core CPU and a 16-core G2-Ultra NX GPU. Xiaomi has accompanied the launch with substantial claims regarding performance improvements and energy efficiency compared with its previous generation, which will require independent verification under real-world conditions.
Configurations reach up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, while the top configuration uses LPDDR6 memory. The phone runs HyperOS 4, and its large display can be used to show up to three applications simultaneously.
A 6,000mAh battery in a 5.02mm body
Xiaomi has fitted a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, an unusually high capacity for a foldable device of this thickness.
It supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Combined with the 219g weight and the 5.02mm thickness when unfolded, battery capacity is one of the most notable technical characteristics of the 18 Fold.
Construction includes a 7-series aluminum frame, Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 on the outside and a new Dragon Bone hinge. The inner display uses a dual-layer ultra-thin UTG glass structure.
From unconfirmed information to an official launch
The Xiaomi 18 Fold had already appeared in reports and leaks before its presentation. In PTTL’s Techtember 2026 fact-check, we noted that at that point no official Xiaomi announcement had yet been found confirming the circulating dates and specifications.
That has now changed: the product has been officially announced, is already on sale in the Chinese market and has appeared on Xiaomi’s official online store.
Availability and price

- The euro conversions are indicative and use the reference exchange rate from September 10, 2026. They are not European retail prices and do not include possible differences in taxation or import costs. The European Central Bank recorded an exchange rate of 1 euro to 7.7900 yuan on the same date.
As of September 11, 2026, Xiaomi has not announced official pricing or availability for the Xiaomi 18 Fold in Europe or Greece. The device remains a Chinese-market product, meaning there is currently no official Greek retail price.

What we think
The Xiaomi 18 Fold is interesting because it does not merely attempt to make an established foldable design thinner. Its different proportions, 219g weight, 6,000mAh battery and complete camera system with a telephoto lens represent a meaningfully different approach. The XRING O3 adds even more technical interest, although both chip performance and camera quality need independent testing. Its biggest drawback for the Greek market is currently straightforward: there is no confirmed European launch.
