Quandt published the information on 15 September on Bluesky, and it remains unconfirmed by Samsung. He also lists a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 16MP front camera with autofocus.
The important distinction is that the 50MP and 5x figures are not enough to prove that the S27 Ultra will use exactly the same telephoto module as the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The new post does not provide a sensor model, physical sensor size, aperture or OIS details, while an earlier WinFuture report described a new sensor for the ultrawide camera even though its resolution remains 50MP.
Quandt brings the 50MP 5x scenario back to the front
According to the latest post, the Galaxy S27 Ultra — internally referred to as TN4/Trinity 4 — has a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical magnification and a Sony sensor. That conflicts with a recent rumour about Samsung testing a 50MP 4x telephoto with a 1/1.9-inch-type sensor, covered by PTTL in an earlier report on the Galaxy S27 camera system.
For photographers and image creators, the difference between 4x and 5x is more than a headline number. A 5x lens provides greater native reach for distant subjects, while a 4x design paired with a larger sensor could theoretically leave more room for cropping and low-light work. Autofocus is therefore not a new capability for the Ultra line. The change suggested by the leak is mainly the jump from 12MP to 16MP.
